Has anyone seen a CitiMortgage loan modification?

I received a call from the local FedEx depot because someone had shown up there with a document that needed a notarization. It turned out to be a CitiMortgage loan mod. The funny thing about it was there was no notarial certificate preprinted on the document, just a line across the page about an inch below the borrower's signature that said something like "attach acknowledgement below." I just hand wrote the acknowledgment on the bottom portion of the page.

It reminded me of the old World Savings loans where the notary had to attach the acknowledgement themselves.

The borrower had gone to the FedEx depot because he thought they had a notary there but it is not a FedEx Office location, so he was almost out of luck. The FedEx workers always call me when someone needs a notary and if I'm home or in the area I can be there in 5-10 minutes and pick up some quick cash.

He told me he had to ship it back to them via UPS. I can guarantee that the workers at the local UPS store would not have performed the notarization for him without the certificate being pre-printed on the document. They also would have ended up calling me - I have a box there for my business mail and they always call me for notarizations they can't handle.

I've only seen the Trial Payment

packages prior to the approval of the Loan Modification.

Personally, I don't think that the some of the lenders or whomever are giving the BOs the correct information with regards to whether or not this document(s) is to be notarized; thus, causing major confusion.

I did heard that one of the lenders is now writing specific instructions to the BOs stating that they must get the Home Affordable Modification Agreement notarized, but only by those notaries that have been approved.

Re: I've only seen the Trial Payment

I didn't see any instructions, but this particular borrower knew he needed his signature notarized. I thought it was strange that the certificate was not pre-printed on the document. It leaves a lot of room for error, especially when the docs are sent directly to the borrower to be executed and returned.

BOA..same thing; no notarial wording at all

I just received my own loan modification paperwork last night. Absolutely no natorial wording at all. Not even the "attach acknowledgement below" wording.

After TWO YEARS of working on this and all the missteps by this huge entitiy. I'm not surprised that the borrower (me in this case) will have to be very aware and their own relentless advocate.

I notarized a guy's signature on a B of A loan mod and the notary certs were there - allbeit they were non-compliant for CA but they were there.
