I work with Paul, he pays me upfront via Paypal, & we have a fine working relationship. Each individual has to make their own decisions. I was one of the one's who was blackballing & blasting companies I had no experience with. I'm grateful for SC & everyone's input. There are still many mixed reviews on some companies.

I actually received a call this evening for a signing on Saturday. The docs would be overnighted and it would be a 30 mile trip one way. They offered $40. I won't even walk out the door for that fee. I explained that their history here was not that great, and their fee was too low for me to accept. They said they would call me back if they could meet my fee. I don't expect to hear from them.
Marilyn is right. Each individual has to determine which companies they will accept work from and who not. I may be willing to give someone a chance; however, my fee must be met and in certain cases, I need payment up front. Its is just how I do business.
BTW, thanks Marilyn and all other notaries that have posted here, for all your advice over the past year since I have gotten started in this business. Without you I would be lost!

There are also two companies with very similar names. I can't imagine Paul offering a $40 fee. He has always paid me a fair amount.

You are right, I will check. It may be one of the other companies.

Agree with MW/VA
Paul and I work well together too. About all that bashing and nagging some of you whiners like to dish out, haven't you ever experienced an unfortunate situation that was totally out of your control? Or do you all get up and polish your halos every morning? Paul has paid me every dime and on occassion, more than the agreed upon fee, relatively on time. Heck, even some of the larger TC's are having problems and paying late. I've never met the man personally, but he has always returned my phone calls and answered my emails. That is a lot more than I can say for some of the SS's that will read this.

Perhaps you should read SC before you go spouting
off, S Peterson,...A history of bouncing checks going back over two and a half years is not an "unfortunate incident" or a "string of bad luck" - that's a pattern..
I've never worked for him and don't want to - glad your experience was good...but don't call those who have been burned "whiners"....

I just turned in Paul Gambs at Pacific Document Services to the Better Business Bureau. I have been waiting for payment since the signing on December 30, 2009 and have sent letters to him requesting payment. I have not received a call or reply to an e-mail and have read so many complaints regarding not receiving payment. I will not do any more business with this company and hope others do not also. He needs to be stopped from ripping us off of our hard earned money.

I just received my payment for the December 2009 signing. Mr. Gambs actually made it look like he was not late on the payment. He put January 31st that he cut the check. I did turn him into the Better Business Bureau and the Escrow Officer that hired him for not receiving payment. He was not responding to my letters or emails that I sent him, so I took the advice of one of you to turn him into the BBB. It worked! I went to the BOA where he has his account and cashed it, just in case his check was no good. I will not accept anymore work from this company.
