Re:Name Badge
Hello everyone, I just receive my new commission number and just started to working again. It took me 6 months from expiration date on Aug 09 to get all the paperwork done. I would like to do good business practice by identifying myself as a notary public in the state of California. I will be making a badge that has my picture passport and my commission paper which will be shrunken down to 33% to fit in the badge. It also includes my commission number and expiration date. Secretary of State of California has requested a picture of notary agent in their files so I thought making this badge will help customers/clients recognize the authentic notary public agent. I’m wondering if this a good idea and will it catch on for other agents to do the same?

You might want to make some changes to your website. Your message is not very clear due to run on sentences and poor use of English in general.

Re: Who me?
It's been a while since I had a CA commission, but don't they prohibit you from notarizing for family members?

No badge for me. My picture is on my business card, my commission # is on my stamp. The borrower is aware I'm coming because I call them, introduce myself and set and appointment time. I also tell them I will call them ten minutes before I arrive.

Name Badge ...
There is a company that markets these for $20.00 . If you do a Google search on 'notary badge' it will come up --- it might save you some work. And, there are other companies that market badges like a policeman's metal shield, also on the Google search.

Sticking to the original post... I would only be particularly interested in a notary ID card that comes from the state. Anything you make yourself is liable to look cheap, and if you are the only notary in your state with an ID badge, what is really the point?
Also, there is no such thing as a "notary agent" and you used that phrase three times in your original post. You are a notary PUBLIC first and formost. The fact that it appears you also serve as a "signing agent" who explains loan documents to clients is irrelevant in the eyes of the state. For you to try and combine the two separate and distinct positions to make an official-looking ID badge (which it appears you are trying to pass off as being issued by the state) doesn't quite make sense, because, as far as I know, the state of California does not recognize signing agents as a profession which requires licensing.

His profile says "Certified Mobile Loan Signing Agent".
That is the service he is advertising & providing. Granted, the term "certified" should only be used in connection with the entity that issued the "certification"--ex. XYZ Certified. There are no state certifications or licenses that I know of. Notary Signing Agent is a valid profession, but does not require licensing. It is one capacity in which a Notary earns a living.

I don't know about CA laws, but I certainly would not have
ANYTHING that had my commission # & exp. date on it. If's it's lost, it would be the same as losing your seal.

While one can appreciate the concept, others have made
excellent arguments above against this idea.
Save your money, and provide good communications with your borrowers instead. Your professionalism will carry the day.
(Apologies for the snarky and downright rude comments of some - your question is a good, honest request for input. Comments about your profile should have been via private message, as it was off topic - even if it was constructive criticism.)
Best of luck to you, Douglas.
