Reasonable Print Fee

Printed 260 pages, borrower canceled at the table, drove 3 mins from my house. What's a reasonable print fee?

Ask for the entire amount....you went to the signing in good faith and you should be paid for your time and travel, and print fee.

$25 - $35... Cost + your time + profit. Yes, profit!

Re: Reasonable Print Fee.... She's right. Full Fee

Sorry... missed the 'cancel @ table' part and addressed only the Subject line.

What were your expenses?

That's the key... you need to consider the total of your expenses including paper, toner, power, gas, time, etc. Cover that AND add your profit margin. That will give you your fee.

Re: What were your expenses?

Or, just do what most of the rest of us already do and have a flat fee that you use every time. Makes life much easier.

That's what I do...

But, my flat fee is based on my expenses and profit needs. I didn't just come up with it arbitrarily. For some $30 might work in this case.

But it sounds like a print and trip fee... which is a bit more than just printing.

And yeah... this should have been something covered in the agreement ahead of time. Smile

Re: Reasonable Print Fee...my policy is

No-sign is 50% of agreed fee; rescinded loan is 100% fee (I've done my job)..

You should charge at least 1/2 of the fee the SS/TC or lender was offering for the job, including print fee (for example, if the job $100.00 plus $25.00 for printing totalling $125.00, then at least $62.50 for your services). If the borrower took a look at the first few pages and decided he and/ or she did not agree to or like the terms, then 1/2 the fee. If the borrower(s) had you at the closing as long or longer than the usual amount of type it normally takes you to complete a closing but changed their minds, then the whole fee.

Many co's. will pay half the signing fee for a print/no-sign. There are notaries that won't take less than a full fee. I usually bill a trip/print fee. It's sometimes hard to collect those from ss.

I was contacted to do a signing during a blinding snow storm. Fortunately it was cancelled. Unfortunately I had already printed all docs.

I asked the SS for a printing fee and was told that "no one else asks for that." He went on to say that it should only be less than $5--he knows because he's a notary too.

When I told him my print fee is $25, he said, "Well, you may not get this signing when it comes up again. If you don't bill for the printing, I'll send you more work."

I'm holding my breath!
