Correct. El Nino warms the ocean, which puts more

moisture in the air (and therefore more energy), and we get stronger storms in the US.

Remember, climate is a big phenomenon, weather is a small phenomenon. They are not the same. Smile

Not exactly. They just change locations and turn into hurricanes during La Nina. Here is a breakdown. Sure glad I live in So. Cal in any case ....

If climate and weather are exclusive?

How can you have an antarctic climate without antarctic weather in Antarctica?

Re: If climate and weather are exclusive?

I'm a former New Englander but I still can't deal with the bitter cold that comes with the wind here in Fla. The wind goes right through you, anyone know where I can buy a parka?

Re: If climate and weather are exclusive?

Try a army navy surplus store if they have any there. When I was in Seattle for two years I couldn't handle to cold wind either. I got the parka real cheap. Now, here in the SF Bay area i'd cook if I put it on even on the coldest night here.

Re: If climate and weather are exclusive?

Thrift stores - someone from up north thought they wouldn't need any more and has donated theirs...you should be able to get a better deal for the few days you will actually need (this winter aside - this is not normal).

Because the climate of the antarctic characterizes the

weather of the antarctic over a period of years ; by temperature, wind velocity, precipitation, etc. The weather today is not the climate of the region.

The weather can change in the blink of an eye (sudden storm), while the climate takes much, much longer to change.

Climate change, in other words, is not a change in the weather in any given spot on Earth, climate change over time, however, can influence changes in weather patterns in regions.

And here I thought we HAD TO MAKE

emergency changes to our life style or we'd be cooked by 2020? Which is it Susie, happening over night or maybe in a thousand years or so (that is if the sun cooperates because that is the biggest determining factor of all -- how many sun spots there are. Or maybe Al baby has found a way to control those too). As you can see I am a BIG skeptic of all this poppycock. Nor am I that big an egotist to think that I can control the climate of the whole earth. Heaven knows the 1/3 of world's population that lives in China and India aren't buyinging into this hysteria and until they control their life style I sure as heck don't want Washington or the UN telling me I can't have electric lights, a car that will take me coast to coast in relative comfort, etc.

Not quite ready to peddle a bike to do notary jobs? LOL

Well said Dorothy. I agree. Wasn't it the "tree huggers" (meaning the fringe of the movement) that told us we HAD to use plastic bags to save trees about a 15-20 years ago? And now, using plastic bags are a big no, no.

IMO, the whole global warming is just a way for people to make money more than for the environment.

Especially here in MI in Jan/Feb

Yes, someone has come up with a way to make BIG money by only selling paper certificates that are backed by NOTHING! (Just wish I'd have come up with the idea, I wouldn't have to be doing signings -- LOL)

No snow this winter in my town.

And I live just below the Canadian border.

We're loving it but the Olympics are pretty unhappy about their brown mountains on the TV sets of potential Feb tourists all over the world.

Last December it got to around 20F or lower here some nights.
And the Canadian dollar was briefly worth more than the US dollar.

weirder and weirder
