Sunset Signings LLC update
Since nothing has been posted about Sunset Signings LLC in Ramona, CA in several months I am submitting this update. Sunset Signings CONTINUES to not pay its notaries for services rendered. I completed a signing for them and after several weeks of non-payment they finally sent a check and it BOUNCED!. When I accepted the assignment I checked them out on this site and expressed my concern, to them, about all of the negative comments for non-payment. Their response was and I quote, You will absolutely be paid withing 3 weeks from the completion of this signing, unquote. Beware of accepting any work from Sunset Signings LLC unless you want to do it for free.

When SS told you that their feeback on here was appparently incorrect, I would have asked them for references from the last 3 notaries that they used. Or I would have asked for 1/2 of the payment upfront.

I have had a few companies with bad feedback agree to pay me half initially when accepting & then the other half when completed before dropping the documents. They objected, then agreed when they realized I would not accept based on their negative feedback.

You're in CA and they are in CA and you got a bad check.
Skip down to your local constabulary and file worthless check charges against them.

In Cali if you report this to your local DA's office they will collect up to 3 times the amount of the check. Check your local county's web site.

Re: You're in CA and they are in CA and you got a bad check.
IN CA, it depends on the DA... in Los Angeles, for example... they have a specific program in place for checks, and there are specific rules that need to be followed.
If your check doesn't fall within that program, they generally won't touch it and suggest your hire a Collection agency or take them to small claims court. You could also try to file a police report.... but the police will usually tell you that if you can't handle it through the DA's program, they won't deal with it, either.

When you read mixed/negative reviews, just know that if others haven't been paid, you won't be either. Of course the scheduler will promise you the moon and the stars - they need the signing completed. Always check Signing Central and use the orange search button to read feedback on company. If you are not near a computer when you accept a loan signing, make sure to check their track record once you arrive home and BEFORE you print docs. If there are mixed/negative reviews, it would be wise to call and give the assignment back. Be sure to tell the company WHY you are turning the job back - because they do not pay notaries for services rendered. Otherwise you will work for FREE.

I accepted one from them before checking the board and told them about their rotten reputation and I received payment in 3 weeks after taking the assignment.
Guess I got lucky, but I had no problem.
