Equity National

Has anyone ever done work/been contacted by Equity National. They require notary to register a credit card number for a "technology fee" of $4.50 per signing, which is charged to your credit card each time. I did the first signing for them in December, got paid right away. For that one they did not waived the credit card registration, but to continue you have to do it. Anyone else do this yet?

Re: Equity National/credit card registration required

Correction... I meant to say: they waived the credit card registration for the first signing, but to continue it is waived.

For the third time....they waived the credit card registration for the first signing, but to continue to do signings it is required to register your credit card so they can charge a "technology use fee". Anyone else done this?

I sent my info in too but don't have a credit card I'm

willing to give them - need to get a prepaid card - once I get that I'll be good to go. They expect that the cost of the "delivery" will be tacked on to your fee...

Exactly. Get a pre-paid credit card and add their service

fee to your fee. It's expected. I signed up with them a while back and have yet to hear from them.

Re: Exactly. Get a pre-paid credit card and add their service

thanks for your replies. Where do I get a prepaid credit card?
I wonder if companies are just trying to get our info in their databases, and use signing opportunities as a hook. I got an email from a company yesterday saying there was a "signing in my area and the first to respond gets it". I sent an email reply and never heard back. Their email had a link to their site which actually required a $25 sign up fee. I doubt they even had a signing in my area.

Do a search here...Equity National has some very high

marks from people who have closed for them.

I gave them one in Sept when they were suppose to go to the new system but was never charge. Did one for them in December and got paid right away. I cancelled that card and they emailed me to update my card info. They have not added that to my fee. If fact they lowered my fee from when they sent the docs directly to me. Don't know if I will do any more for them.

I signed up with them as well..and gave them a card. I did do a signing for them in Dec. very quick payment within days and was not charged on my credit card.

Garland..you get a prepaid card from banks and the chain stores..prepaid visa for example!

The way it works is that they tally up all the closings you did for the whole month and then they charge everything all at once.

I have worked with Equity National for quite some time & love them. Under the new platform, I did my first signing through ValuAmerica portal in Dec. I was paid in a timely manner by Equity, as always.
The fee appeared on my credit card. IMO this is no big deal--you are being compensated for the fee by Equity. They tell you straight-up to adjust your fee for it.
