Fairfax Signing Service, Fountain Valley, CA

Received a call from them on Friday. Called back 20 mins later and cancelled claiming docs being redrawn. Called again this week for the same client and sent docs. After I printed over 150 pages, they called and cancelled again claiming client was spanish speaking only. Offered nothing for cancellation. I checked the docs and found out the client had checked NOT Hispanic or Latino on their loan application. Fairfax did not respond when I questioned the real reason for cancellation and requested payment for paper/ink and time expense.

Will not accept work from them in the future.

send the usual demand letters and then fax them the Small Claims Court paperwork.

I would request a $25 print fee for printing the package. If they deny you payment, you can either chalk it off as a lesson learned and not do closing for them, or send them a fair debt letter requesting payment in 10 days or you will have no alternative but to take them to Small Claims. Keep in mind you are going to incur court filing fees and possible process server fees and may not collect on anything.

Good luck collecting from them, I had a signing last year that I had so much trouble collecting from them. And it was from a loan that they did get paid. My policy is if they messed up, they pay, if I messed up I pay for the mistake.
