First American Title...be very careful
It is now 81 days and counting since I last worked for them and I am still chasing payment. The office that engaged me was the old Transcontinental office in Clearwater, FL. I have sent numerous faxes and emails to several people in three different offices in an attempt to effect payment without results. Alot of promises, but no action. Be advised if you accept an assignment from them you will also need to don your collection hat.

FASS (First American Signature Services) 888-270-3630 is usually who schedules the TC jobs.
Try them, was the job posted to the FASS website? If so, you will need to complete on the site before payment will be sent. Talk to vm at FASS.

I did not work for FASS. (I wrote them off years ago as a low baller) I worked for First American Title, Clearwater, Fl who is the successor to Trans Continental Title. This deal had no connection to FASS as far as I know.

I do quite a few closings for First American but I always am hired through First American Signature Services and always, always do everything through the website from reporting the call to the borrower to obtaining my docs and reporting the closing. I have never had a problem with getting payment. They send checks out every Monday but you MUST report on the website. I have worked with them for several years and I have never done anything else but through the website.

It's time to send one last demand letter (certified mail, regular mail, fax and email) giving them 3 business days to overnight your check or your next action will be to contact their State Insurance Commissioner with the facts, details and circumstances of nonpayment. If that doesn't get their attention, then follow through.

I would agree with your caution. They just emailed me for a new updated contract for $50 per signing and $25 edoc fee which altogether $25 lower than the fee I was getting from them. Four years ago I was getting $150 - 200 per loan and now I am lucky to get $100 total with a 20 mile drive.
Seems like they are forcing professional NSA's out with these price changes.

Oh, my! They kept sendding me farther and farther away and when I'd ask for a higher rate it was strictly on a job by job negotiation. When I started asking why, after six years I was getting $10 less per signing than when I started, I was suddenly dropped from their roles and only told that they no longer needed my services. Explains a lot.
