Post script driver on printer
I am being asked the question if I have a post script driver on my printer. I have no idea what this is. My printer is a HP 4100. Can anyone answer this for me?

Thanks. I was looking all over my printer to see if it said it somewhere, even looked at all the settings and just didn't see it. Duh, didn't think to look online. lol

No problem....How are you doing? Are things as crazy for you as I have been. The brakes finally came as Jan has slowed a bit, but Nov and Dec were great! Take care.

I'm doing great Tonya. Thanks for asking. Hope you are also. I had a very busy Nov and Dec also. I've had a few in Jan, but phone is starting to ring today for the end of week.

Re: If I recall correctly...big IF
Once when I was asked if I had a post script driver the requestor really wanted to know if I had elynx/swiftview or something similar that I can use to print their package. I don't know what the difference is or if there is a difference, nonetheless you may want to clarify with the requestor on what is needed.

Just because your printer may support it ...
... doesn't necessarily mean it is installed. Many printers come with an assortment of drivers: PCL6, PCL5e and PostScript (PS). However, if you do a default or recommended installation of the printer, chances are only the PCL6 driver is actually installed.
Every time you install a printer, a driver must also be installed. For each printer/driver combination, you should see a separate entry in the printer list when selecting "Print" from an application menu. For example, if I click on "Print", the default printer is selected. Clicking on the drop-down arrow (next to the box showing the default printer name) you should see something similar to:
Adobe PDF hp Laserjet 1300 PCL6
Now, if all three printer drivers were installed, the list would look like:
Adobe PDF hp Laserjet 1300 PCL5e hp Laserjet 1300 PCL6 hp Laserjet 1300 PS
The last entry in the above list, is the PostScript driver configuration.
