Printer Language - Time to update my 2015
.....over 100,000 pages and its starting to squeak real bad. I use the PCL5e, and the HP 2055 I am thinking of buying has HP PCL 5c; HP PCL 6; HP postscript level 3 emulation with automatic language switching. Is the PCL5c the same as PCL5e? Thanks for the information....on more thing, what is the postcript level 3 emulation.......

No, PCL5c is not the same as PCL5e. PCL5c was developed strictly for the older color laser printers. With new printers, use PCL6. I also suggest installing the PS3 driver. Some application programs print better using PostScript (PS) than they do when using PCL.
PCL is HP's proprietary Page Contol Language/Printer Control Language. PS (PostScript) is Evans & Sutherland's then Xerox's and now Adobe's proprietary Page Description Language.

While on the subject..
My printer just starting squeeking too; is that fixable? I have a Brother 5250 that's only about 1 year old.

Re: While on the subject..
how much printing have you done with it this past year. Maybe you need a new drum.

Not sure but no more than 10,000. I replaced the drum last month.

Not same printer, but I've had a few squeaky toner cartridges. It may not be the printer!

Well, I changed the toner, now the paper indicator is flashing. I hate printers.

Re: LOL Riley
I totally understand. I have spent hours trying to figure out why my new printer, a Brother 5140, would not print docs correctly. When I first got the printer I had it on a different computer and it printed with no problems and very quickly. As soon as I installed onto my office computer, it started acting up. It was taking forever to print docs and it woulnt print some docs correctly. I was pulling my hair out. I think I got er fixed now and Im a happy camper

Re: LOL Riley
I reinstalled the driver and "poof", there it goes! It'll do it again.
