Printer help - need software for HP2435dtn

I found a great deal on eBay for a refurbished HP2430dtn which arrived today. Naturally, it didn't come with a CD and user manual. I thought I'd done all my homework, but I can't seem to find the right software to run on Vista (32 bit). Drivers, yes; XP, yes, but not for Vista, although it's supposed to be compatible.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where I might be able to download it? (I'd rather not have to pay HP Support $25 for something that should be so simple.)

Many thanks!

I think this should be the right link on hp's website:

Thanks, but that's the page with just the drivers - I think. When I clicked the link at the bottom for the software, it looks like its some different program for people who manage multiple printers in a small office setting. I'm not exactly the most techie person, so some of this just gives me a headache. Wink

Isn't there supposed to be software to load that manages how the printer works, etc., in addition to the drivers?

the universal print driver towards the middle of the page is all you really need to get printing, the PCL6 driver should be your best bet.

Thanks again! I tried downloading the ones at the top and nothing happened. I'll try again with the Universal print drivers. (On my other HP, I downloaded both the PCL6 & PCL5 drivers, so I could print with 300 dpi & save toner.)

Yippies, Janet. I've got the 2430, love the dual tray, and

it's a pretty good workhorse. It's my second one. First one, I burned up using after market toner cartridges - untested chips -

I'm having some issues right now - even after upping the memory to the max - it doesn't want to print a whole big file after doing it the first time. Arg. I'm considering that hard reset, or whatever it's called, just haven't done it. Anyhoo, bet you'll like your new one.

Re: Yippies, Janet. I've got the 2430, love the dual tray, and

Today it got it's first real testing - and I seem to have the same problem you mentioned. I was hoping that it was part of a learning curve, because I did something or other and after I gave up and sent the rest of the package to my old (now secondary back-up) HP, the 2430 started printing again. I'll have to read-up on the hard reset... BTW, mine just has the standard 64 mg memory. If you have any insight on the problem or links with info, I'd appreciate anything you can offer! Did you give up completely on after market toner? LD Products has some at what I think was about half the price, and I was hoping to be able to save there, too.

I have to say, it sure was nice to send the whole file to print, go to the bathroom, come back and have a whole copy done! BTW, this was an unbelievable sale (still going on for a couple of days) on eBay for a refurb - and they had several in stock. (I paid $214 to my door w/USB cable, power cord & used toner cartridge - with some life left in it - included!) These are only available as "buy it now", not to bid on. If I had the room, I'd consider buying another one just as another back-up, but I already have two other working printers.

Thanks for your comments!
