Techie issue: Javascript

I've used VP's wesbite for ordering marketing materials for years, but am now getting an error message that I need to enable Javascript.
It's enabled.
Java's site says it's working properly.
I'm stumped.
Any ideas on resolution?

You may need to upgrade to the latest JRE version. It also may be a problem on the vendor's end instead of yours.

I knew you'd come :)

JAVA says I have the latest JRE vesion, so I am guessing it may be VP's site.
(Won't let me post with the full name).

Hey Paul sorry abouit what happened

between you and your former good friend.
Don't lose any sleep over it because you did give him a dead line for docs and he was wrong for trying to pass the buck. He was obviously never a true friend in the first place. Shows what his true character is really like!!

Java and Javascript are two completely separate programs and have nothing to do with one another.

Depending on which browser you're using, the steps are different to enable javascript.

Google "enable javascript" and put your browser name after javascript in the search terms. There are tons of tutorials that will show you how to enable javascript in your particular browser.

You can also contact the site's tech support/webmaster.

While this is true, I have found that many developers (not profession developers) say that "Javascript" must be enabled, when, in fact, they meant that Java must be enabled as the application uses the Java Runtime Environment.

Since Misty said the error message said she needed to enable Javascript and it was enabled, that maybe she needed to have Java enabled as well. I've run into that more than once. Of course, it may also mean that a particular function in Javascript is not enabled.

Hmmm...I've worked with the Java language and javascript code for years. I have never run into the situation you described. (Doesn't mean it's never happened, I've just never seen it and can't personally imagine a scenario where it would happen.)

If a Java app cannot run because Java is not installed the app will alert the user that they must install or enable java. Any java app will initialize automatically if Java is installed and enabled.

She said she went to the Java website and they detected Java running on her system, so it's not an issue with Java not being enabled.

If she doesn't have scripting enabled in her browser she will get a message from the browser letting her know that the script cannot run and that she must enable scripting in the browser to allow the script to run.

In any event I hope she resolved her issue.

Did you try re-booting your computer?

It could be that your browser or JRE was updated and it takes a restart to get it working properly.

OK, I take that back. The site doesn't seem to be working. n/m
