Urban Settlement (Pittsburgh) ...WARNING!
Just a warning to anyone considering taking a job from this co.
I accepted an assignment on 12/10 from them. It was my first time working for them, so I asked up front when I would be paid and I was told within 30 days. 30 days came, no check! I emailed them to find out where my check is and was told "Payment is 30th day of the following month"
This is absolutely ridiculous! They are a title company! There is NO reason I should have to wait 60 days for a check. Especially after being told I will be paid in 30. Very very shady!

did u ask to be on the HUD?
For new TC client's, especially if I can't find any readily available info on them, I ask to be listed on the HUD, and I'd say 99% of the time, they agree. And haven't had any issues with payment, which is usually w/in a week.
... sorry u have to go thru this and with a TC...wow!

I hate to say this again… Not all Title Companies have money. Not all Title Companies make a profit. Not all Title Companies are honest. All you need to start a ‘Title Company’ is a company name, an insurance license, (or someone that has a license) an underwriter, and a phone.
In this NSA business you the Notary are almost always extending credit to the company that hires you for the job. So don’t ‘loan money’ to those you don’t know, or trust, or that have a sterling reputation. The only guarantee this business offers is that if you do it long enough, you will eventually get ripped-off. JMO

I did a closing for them back in Sept 07 and I finally received the check 12/07. When they called me they said they were part of NREIS, which is how they found my name, but when I started collections they suddenly weren't part of NREIS any longer.

Some tc's pay on disbursement, but not all. I wonder if anyone has ever gone to the Pa. Notary Association with payment issues. I understand they are a strong organization. I'd send a demand letter or turn it over for collection. If the assignment was 12/10 you are just a week past 30 days. Past due to me is over 90 days.

Signing 12/10 (providing RTC applies) funded on 12/15/09
just at our a few days over 30 days, keeping in mind two long holiday weekends...
I'd wait a bit more - seems a bit premature to me.

"it was a purchase"
That's why I threw in the part "if RTC applies" -
In the case of a purchase, yes, IMO you should have been paid by now - the transaction has funded...check for the recorded conveyance instrument to be sure though so you have that as ammunition...
