Tax Cut is HR Block's home software. They have a free online version this year, and then upgrades for more complicated returns. see http://www.hrblock.com/ for more info.

Thanks. I checked it out. It won't work for self-employment.

Got turbotax cd in mail on Sat.
Free federal which is okay here, cause the legislature hasn't got the nerve to try to get a income tax passed. The cd also comes with free internet filing. I have always used HR Block taxcut, but I may give this a whirl and compare the two and see if I get the same results.

I've been using TT (TurboTax) for 30 years, or longer. I've used TaxCut and TaxAct in the past and always have returned to TT.

Re: Got turbotax cd in mail on Sat.
I had been using TurboTax for years, but switched to TaxCut (now called H&R Block At Home) last year. I found that TT was getting bloated with unnecessary stuff (seems to be SOP for Quicken products lately), and after reading user reviews of both products I decided to switch. I guess the bottom line is what works for you at a price you are comfortable with.

I've used TurboTax's online software for years. Love it! I also love that I can just log in and print a copy of a prior year's return easily. (If you use the online version they store it for you so you don't have to worry about installing that year's version of turbotax to get your return out.
Since we're an adoptive family, and it seems always in the middle of an adoption, we're forever digging out old tax records. Having them handy at turbotax.com has been perfect!

PS: if you file your taxes electronically this month for a direct deposit, if you're getting money back, your direct deposit will be in five days! WOOT!
