thank you Becca

A couple of years ago Becca was nice enough to send me a copy of her letter that she uses for non-payment. I have used it many times, and every time, it works!!! Just today I received a check for a signing that was done 90 days ago! This company claims that they pay the notary when the title company pays them. Well phooey with that!! After many emails and phone calls, I just sent them a copy of Becca's letter, and voila!, the check was at my doorstop. Thank you Becca!

Re: Can you post a copy?...

Me too!!! I even had one of the attorney's I work for send a letter to one company and still NOTHING!! Maybe this letter would light a fire. But if a letter from an attorney doesn't do it I am not real hopeful.

I DO NOT think a copy should be posted...

OR given away without Becca's permission. She helped ONE notary out. That does NOT entitle EVERYONE else to it. I would not even ask pjc to share something like this, I would go directly to the author (Becca).

I will be VERY, VERY disappointed if Becca's generosity to one notary becomes the property of many...especially--reflectively speaking--where a bunch of notaries from here became pretty gleeful when she was removed from the membership.

If you want Becca's help, just email her. She's easy to find. It truly blows my mind that anyone thinks that pjc's "thank you to Becca" entitles anyone to Becca's work or to "gently" pressure pjc for it.

I too agree. Becca was VERY nice to me when I started out and if she wants to help someone else, that is her business. I wish that it was MY letter and that I could share it. Good luck to all.

Was a loss to this forum when Becca was forced out.
She was pretty acerbic at times, but sometimes truth is bitter.
I really miss her posts.
think we should get up a petition asking she be reinstated! I would add my name to it in a heartbeat.

Me, too.

I love her saying: "The only think in life that's fair is me. I am Fair, after all."

I got on here late, I'm glad to see that some here still

have some backbone! The entitlement mentality has taken over here in droves. I am glad to see that the stalwartrs on this site still stand up for what's right. Kudos Brenda, Sue, Sylvia and jba, nice work I came on here late today and I think that enough has been said by you all already.

Agree w/Brenda. This is essentially 'intellectual property'

belonging to Becca. It should NOT NOT NOT be distributed or redistributed by anyone but Becca under any circumstances.

Completely agree, also. To anyone who is asking for this...

Please don't take this personally, but use it as a gentle reminder and opportunity to learn. I was re-reading some of the messages attached to #33325 this weekend. There were several very good additions that address how to think like a business owner and are relevant to this topic. Nearly ALL of us can use a reminder from time to time.

I've said this before I think, but the content in that message is almost too good to give away. It includes what could be considered "intellectual property" of many of the best on this board - just there for the taking. If you haven't re-read the whole thing recently, you should. And you should be overwhelmed with gratitude - as I am - for all the time it took collectively for so many to compile so much great information. That kind of thing just doesn't happen in other businesses. Many pay hundreds of dollars to business consultants to get some of what is offered there for free.

BTW, I still maintain that that information is just a starting point, however good. We all need to keep learning - these days more than ever - regardless of what business we are pursuing.

I'm in TOTAL agreement on this! Intellectual property

is not the same as File Sharing, Freeware or any other shared property.

If some one wishes a collection letter, one only has to search here for ideas, Google for samples and so on. I posted a site to get all kinds of free forms just recently, and that site has a great number of collection letters.

Lazy is as lazy does - get a clue. No, this is not being mean to others; it is not giving newbies a break either. It is all about one's business model, research to get where they are and networking in the proper manner. Asking for someone else's work is tantamount to cheating.

Re: LOL!! I see we're on the same page again! ;>)

As a former professional photographer, I agree that the collection letter should be viewed as work product and should only be given away at no charge by the original writer. A lot of times, my customers believed that once they purchased "X" number or size photographs they were entitled to make copies (without compensation to me of course). They only had rights to the one copy they paid for. I could give them extra prints, but that was my call to make.

In general, because I don't know anyone here, I don't think the ones that asked for a copy were intentionally trying to 'get something for nothing.' You hear a good idea and its human nature to ask how to make it work for you. If the author is offering it for sale or is giving it away the same process would have to be followed. You would have to ask for a copy of it from someone.

I viewed the original "thanks" message as someone giving credit to her for both the letter and her help.

By the way, can someone please post contact information -- that is if she would be OK with getting email requests or contacts.

Thanks

Thanks, Chris...as I am a writer, I feel that

intellectual property should be only given or sold by the author. That's part of what got me involved in this thread.
