Arizona Law Changes Effective Today!

Look to the Arizona Secretary of State website as identification laws change today. Among other changes, we can now accept Texas and Virginia driver's licenses again!

Happy Day!

Re: They didn't meet the minimum requirements

Texas did not have the color of hair and Virginia did not have a picture. These were both minimum requirements until today.

Not at all true. VA d/l's have been photo ID's for many years.

Re: They didn't meet the minimum requirements

BTW, I've lived in VA for 22 years--photo on d/l all that time. The only thing that changed was that they used to use your ss #.

Re: They didn't meet the minimum requirements

This was discussed the other day when paaz made the same statement - Shoshanna said it was because VA licenses lack hair color and weight on the D/L.

I have an I.D. Guide dated 2007 (none invalid) that shows two Virginia driver's licenses with photos.

Moved back to Virginia in 2003, have had a picture at least since then.

Heck, some people change their hair color on a weekly basis! Why on earth would that be on an ID?

Re: My bad!

With regards to Virginia, I was only going by what one of my clients told me. Being in Arizona, I have never been presented with a Virginia driver's license so had no reason to check it out. I should have checked it out before I posted that it was missing a photo.

Prior to yesterday, the minimum requirements were:

The written physical description must contain, at a minimum:

* the individual's height
* weight
* color of hair, and
* color of eyes

A.R.S. 41-311

Just wanted to let all Arizona notaries know of the change. Hope I have helped.
