Desperation of LO's
Today I was supposed to meet with borrowers at branch office lo would be there. Docs were late one of borrowers couldn't wait. Lo called and told me that she had left a copy of drivers license could I have the husband sign and he would then take the docs home for his wife to sign. I told Lo that I couldn't do that that they would both have to be in front of me. Lo called tc asked them to send a different notary to meet with them . I don't know how it worked out.

It's a good thing you didn't fall in that trap. Good for you for not yielding to THAT pressure. IMO

Was it a LO out of CA with Chicago clients...?
If it was, he called me to but I was scheduled for the day, and couldn't help. Sorry you had to go through that. I wonder who else he called from Chicago???

By the time the tc found a different notary, etc., it might have worked out just fine. The other notary would have ended up going to the borrowers' home and signing them both! But who knows? I'd be tempted to find out, however, cos in CA what the LO told you to do is illegal and it is also now illegal for people to even ask a notary to do illegal stuff. I'd be tempted to find out what happened and report the whole thing. In CA we can request notary log data, so it would be easy to track.
