Holy Smokin' Toledos!!!!
I so know what you mean about the fax back thing now. WOW who knew you'd have to fax back half of 150pages of documents. How do you all keep them in order when you do that? It's totally not possible. I just pulled them all then went back to the PDF of documents and had to go page by page to put everything back in.
On a humorous note, I think it's kinda funny how people start out so friendly then by the end the two couples are at each others throats. You usually have the one who wants to just sign and be done with it while the other scrutinizes over every little last detail. All in all a nice fairly straight forward signing. Now, like always, crossing fingers I didn't overlook something. Check, double, triple, fax, check again. Waiting for the clear to send overnight docs.
Have a wonderful rest of your day notaries!
Kimberly

Re: I usually put one of the thin post-its on the doc
underneath the one that I pulled out - have the post-it sticking out with "TIL" (or whatever the doc is)"on top". I usually don't bother if they are not in the same exact order, that's the best they get from me.

Or just scan & send the whole package.
Let them flip through page by page and pull out whatever they need.

I never put them back in order
If they want me to fax back, I do not put them back in order, even though I could get them pretty much back in place as I've done over 4000 closings and know document pkgs. very well, I feel if you want me to go to the effort of faxing back large pkgs. then I just put the fax backs on the top of the pkg.

I just put the faxed docs on top of the pile
They can sort it out when they get them back.

Re: I just put the faxed docs on top of the pile
I do the same, just put them on the top. If they want the docs pulled and faxed, they can put them back in order. Micro-managers!

If you realized
how many times that package is pulled apart once it reaches TC, you wouldn't sweat it. The only thing I will put back in order is if you ONLY have to fax the first, sig and ack pages of Mortgage/DOT. I keep those separate by criss crossing that doc in the package as I go through pulling necessary docs. Then they all go right on top of the package. Remember, these are the critical docs.

Yes, it's a real PIA. I had to eat my own words the other day. The tc that does the Bof pkgs. & wants critical docs (haha--still 35-40 pages) & pays lower fees. I did one, thought how ridiculous it was, and emailed them that I would no longer work for that fee or faxback for free! What was I thinking in the first place?????

I feel you Kim! I rarely fax anymore. I scan and email back.
Saves me time and my sanity! You seem to have a great sense of humor, keep that up! You'll need it in this biz!

I never worried about putting the docs back in order, unless the instructions specifically said to do that. Even then, if I had to pull a few to fax back, Post-It notes saved the places. But if they asked me to to fax back a lot of pages AND reassemble the package, that wasn't going to happen - you get one or the other, not both...
I always rearranged the packages in a way the made sense to me for signing purposes - HUD-1, TIL, RTC, Note, Mortgage, First Payment notice, the rest of the docs to be notarized, and then everything else. That's the order they went back in , and I never got a complaint.

I don't stress about the order either. I just toss it back somewhere close or somewhere that makes sense. They want 50 pages of fax backs, they can sort it themselves.

I feel sorry for the Escrow or Title Officers.
Being a retired Escrow Manager I can empathize with the poor Escrow or Title Officers who have to take the packages we send to them, sort them out and forward to the lenders. It is not their fault that these ridiculous fax backs are required by the lender in most cases.

So true. And often times, when you actually speak with
them, they only really want a few pages, especially when there's no RTC.

I clip them together and put a note that says "faxbacks" and put that on top on the return package. I've never had a complaint. I charge extra for more than 20 pages of faxbacks. A LOT extra.
If I've worked for the client before and they've never had any problems with how I do closings, I ask them to waive faxbacks and they usually do.
There's a couple of lenders (ING, Fifth Third and Provident come to mind) that are kind of a pain to do loan packages for, and I never argue or charge extra for their faxbacks because they can be really helpful for finding stuff that is OK with everyone else but the particular lender is really weird about (stray marks on the page, an upside down notary seal---yes, some want them right-side up and upside down is unacceptable, etc)

If it is for Transcontinental, the purpose of the faxbacks is only to do their work..I was advised it allows them to not have to open the package, and your faxbacks become their file. Talk about reducing productivity. What a time saver for them. They simply send the return package to BOA or whoever. I don't fax any, and all remains well. Since BOA sent so many jobs over to India, why not let them handle the files.

I charge for Fax-backs for that very reason. The fee does
not include the re-stack. That's extra for clerical work, hour minimum.
Along with the 'demanded' time frames for faxing/dropping deadlines?
I can't even imagine a drop deadline of 6 PM. Sigh.
