On vacation and could be busier than ever

I started out a few months back and while learning, also did some marketing of myself. Apparently this is the week it's paying off. You know, the week that I'm on vacation in a place so remote I have to take a boat to my cabin.

I've had two local lawyers call, two signing companies and three people from town. I have a message on my phone that I'm out of town, plus on my website and email but that's not stopping them.

I feel SO bad, but I guess there's nothing I can do. I hate, hate, hate to lose the business. But it's a good reminder - do market yourself. It will come back to you in only good ways (that is, unless you're on vacation). At least I feel needed, right? Smile

Shauna, I'm smiling because the same thing has happened to me in the past. You're right. There's nothing you could do. You probably know this already but I would still call these people back (especially the lawyers) when you can to let them know you are back in town and appreciate them calliing you.

Excellent suggestion. I had planned on doing that, plus a written note (with a biz card, of course). Thanks!

The absolutely same thing happened to me last week. I knew it was EOM week but I had no choice but to be away. As it turned out I think I missed at least 15 jobs in whta could have been the best week in a long time.

Same thing happened to me in May. Gone for 19 days, out of state, and must have had 17 people/companies needing help. I made sure to answer the call if I could and return each and every call whether they left a voice mail message or not. I let them know that I was on a needed vacation, when the office would reopen and gave them a referral to another notary who I trust to do the job right. Partnering up with a local notary and refer each others business when you're out of town is a real good way to establish professional relationships and provide a resource for the caller.
