Can anyone out there help me that knows about HP printers and the second tray to use for legal? I just purchased a printer, P2055DN. Bought a second tray for the letter/legal pdf documents we receive. I cannot get it to choose the size paper to print. I can make it print from each tray, but won't choose the right size when I give it letter/legal sheets together. Several people said...oh yes, this printer with extra tray will do that. Now I had one person say...oh no, this printer with extra tray will not do that. I am getting so frustrated,..... can someone tell me if it can do what I have ask? AND if so, what settings am I missing.

Here's a link to the HP website and that printer....based on the specs outlined it SHOULD work - bet it's in the setup ..hope this helps..

If you click on start, control panel, printers - from there you can set the printer up to recognize the 3 trays..

I have been sitting here all evening reading about everything HP has written on line. Even talked with one of their people (in India, I think). I couldn't understand him very well. Finally he said this printer would not do that.
I can see all the settings and have assigned size of paper to trays. The program just won't choose which tray to pull from. If I have it print a pdf file with 10 pages, 5 letter and 5 legal; they all print from the same tray. Letter size prints on legal paper. I can direct the print to come from any tray, IT just won't choose. I know it has to be a setting somewhere.......

Is the box checked on the print screen?
When you go to file, print... there is a box towards the bottom of the screen that says"choose paper source by PDF page size". That needs to be checked. See if this helps.

Jae, it will work. I have a HP 2015. Hp fixed mine. They can also take control of your computer and fix it. Give them a call first thing Tuesday Morning around 6 am. Call 1800 334-5144-When they how they can help you, say Laserjet. Be sure to have your serial # ready. I hope this helps.

I agree w/ Linda on this one...
if you have all the tray sizes setup correctly from the "properties" menu, then the checked box in acrobat should send it to the corresponding trays....

there's another box in the setup "Select Printing Preferences" and that needs to be set to "automatically select" - personally I think all these setting options should be on one page but they're not..
Hope they got it working.

Yes, all these suggestions have been done. There is an installation or driver problem. I uninstalled and tried to install again and it does error. So will need to have help. I am so grateful for all your help....mainly THANKFUL to hear this machine WILL choose it's paper size. I knew it would, but when someone from HP says no, it kind of makes you doubt yourself.
