printer problem with windows 7 - help techies, pls!
Just received my new Dell laptop. No problem in transferring from old computer. However, my Brother MFC 8220 will not connect. Already downloaded driver from Brother website. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much!

call Brother and ask them, maybe there is a patch that isn't online yet

According to some, Windows 7 was released before it should have been. There were no compatible printers at the time it was released. I have a windows 7 and I downloaded the driver for my HP printer. It worked well for a while but in the middle of printing a package, it stopped printing and got a message that said, "Add New Printer". Luckily I was able to switch to another computer and finish printing the package. I am still using the second computer and waiting until HP has printers that will be compatible to Windows 7. I understand HP is working on that.

Once again this reverts back to them releasing windows too early and not being compatible with a lot of the printers. The only information I can get from HP is that they are working on the issue. In the mean time we have the problems of using the generic drivers they are using until the issue gets resolved.

Re: printer problem with windows 7 - UPDATE
I was out of town for over a week and unable to continue with this project.
Home now. Called Brother. They emailed me the complete instructions and gave me some over phone.
Was able to install driver and printer is now working!! Yea!!!!
Hope it continues working right as I have to print package tomorrow morning. I do, however, still have my old trustee (soundless) computer that communicates very well with printer -- just in case.
Thanks everyone!
