quick newbie question.....
hello all. Please help me put to rest the issue of pen color!!!! Does it matter? Black or Blue?
I searched my basic notary book and could not find it. I'm thinking it does not matter, however the previous notary at my work is set on black ink..
thanks...
Jamie

There is no particular ink color required; however, when you are doing loan signings a specific color may be required (blue)...and that's more so you can tell which is original or copy.

thank you. That is what i was thinking.. We use blue for our international students documents because of that reason.
I like my blue pen better anyways.
Appreciate it.

Read the SS/TC instructions
A specific color is sometimes indicated on the assignment sheet from the signing service, but is more often contained in the instructions received with the package. Although some may say to use either black or blue, it seems that the majority specified during the last year or so, in my signings, have specified blue as required. A few times when I did not find any reference to color and contacted the signing service or title company, I was told to use either.
The instructions are normally at or near the front of the package. Hopefully, you'll have time to glance at all pages before going to the signing, looking for such. It is frustrating, but infrequent, to print late docs and rush to the signing without viewing them, only to find an unexpected instruction sheet 40 to 60 pages into the package, specifying a certain color which is not the one you've used to that point! Arggg.......
I prefer blue, so when there is no required color, I use it, and have never been dinged for doing so. When in doubt, call and ask.

Re: Read the SS/TC instructions
Pen color only matters when the TC requests the use of blue or black.

Blue seems to be the preferred ink color for loan signings. I have one tc that specifies black ink & all docs shrunk to letter size (I know, go figure). Many states now accept both blue & black ink. They're simply stating the obvious, I think--don't use red, green, purple, etc.
