Bad Day
My new grandson born with down syndrome and my nephews 5 year old daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia today. On top of that today has been 5 years since my niece (age 32) died from a blodd clot. Wow it looks so different when you type it and read it compared to saying it.

I will pray for your family also. I love children very much, but down syndrome children are just so very special. They are the most loving, caring, giving children. God has given your family a down syndrome child because he knows that child will be such a joy in your lives and will be well taken care of. I know its hard to grasp and seems like a huge disappointment, but you won't be. That child will give you more than you will ever give him/her. Stay strong. God will get you through this.

I'll keep you & your family in thoughts & prayers. That is
a lot of process in one day. BTW, whoever said "God never gives us more than we can handle" was a liar.

My first son passed when he was 10 years old,........on his sister's birthday, while we were celebrating it!
Life itself is very precious and down syndrome children are like Linda said, very special. You will see in that child what others won't. You'll be okay.
I have a 27 year old diagnosed as Idiot Savant, he is amazing and constantly has us shaking our heads, movies is his thing, anything, anyone, and title, actors, action, thriller....ask him he can tell you.

I hear all the time that God never gives you more than you can handle. You and your family have certainly been tested. It's hard, you wonder what God had in mind. I do know that prayer has moved me through a lot of challenges and I'll be keeping you in mine. All the best to you and yours in these difficult times.

My cousin's little boy, Evan, was discovered to have leukemia when he was 4.
His mother's Facebook status a little more than three years later (this past fall):
-Evan, my son, gets to stop chemotherapy!!! He was diagnosed with leukemia in August 2006 and has been on chemo ever since. ...Next week, he'll have testing done to confirm that no more leukemia cells are in his bone marrow.
-After 38+ months of taking chemo and getting 23 spinal taps, my son Evan has now finished treatment for leukemia! The results from his bone marrow aspiration show no more cancer. I truly appreciate all of your prayers, and I'm incredibly grateful to God... === Evan was treated in Texas Children's Hospital in Houston. He continues to get regular bloodwork there.
I know that you are going through a very hard time, as well as are your children and your nephew's family. I know that it is a challenge to have a child with Down's Syndrome. We have had this, as well, in my family, and ultimately, there are so many blessings and rewards, but nothing will make it all better right now until everyone has time to get their head around it and figure out the new game plan...so, I can only offer you my empathy and prayers...we've been there and I feel your concerns. Bless you and yours!

Prayers are with you & your family.
Your post shows us just how miniscule many of our problems are that we complain about on this forum. My sister died from Leukemia in 2002 and I know that they have made many advancements in treatment since then. I hope that one works for your nephews daughter. Just one thing, if they offer an experimental treatment make sure that they give you a full disclosure of the treatment. Not just the good stuff, but the adverse things as well. My sister didn't know to ask and it cost her her life.
