E-Signing

I have no problem with Amtrust E-Signings. I did my first Fiserv E-signing this morning, and it was a redundant nightmare. Even though you have paper docs to sign, you have to go through the "ink signed docs" in electronic format. The borrower must e-sign many of them, others you have to open, scroll down and close it before you can go on to the next edoc. I did call customer service yesterday to verify this is how it worked, and they said yes, that I had to go through all these steps. The "ink signed" notarized docs were there as edocs too, and I had to either click ack, jurat, just sig or sig witness after the borrower did his click. If you pick jurat or ack it tells you that it is an enotarization (which isn't permitted in NC unless it is on one of 5 companies websites and Fiserv is not on the list) so that is out, just sig is me signing as the closing agent, so I had to opt for witnessing the sig. Technically, a NC notary can not witness a sig on a doc they notarize, but since I wasn't notarizing the edoc, only the paper doc, I felt this was ok. After some of the "ink signed documents" it would kick you back to the "signing tab" and you had to start from where you left off, again customer service stating this is the way the program is set up to work. Also, every 15 minutes, it kicks you out saying your session has expired and you need to login again. You login with your user id and password, then you have to login again with your password to get to the docs.

An Amtrust paper and computer usually takes me 25 minutes to close. This took 1.5 hours, and over an hour was on the computer. We finished, I saved the docs to the desktop and emailed them to the borrower. He was appalled at how slow and redundant the program was. When I finally went to the "complete closing info" screen, the website kicked me out saying that my time had expired. It never did let me complete the closing information in the system. So I went back to my office and tried again, and the closing was gone.

Fiserv has a long way to go before this is user friendly and I'm good with technology. I'll do one of these again, but at 3 times my normal fee. And it only works with IE7 or newer.

For e-signings, it would be great if the docs not needing notarized signatures could be emailed to the borrowers and they have a deadline (3 or 4 days) to review and e-sign them on their own. The notary would only meet with BO and have them wet sign the docs needing notarized signatures. Those docs could also be emailed (or overnighted) for the borrowers review. This way, the appointment would take 15 mins or less, there would be no surprises as the borrower had the docs in advance for review and there'd be less headaches for all involved. Just a thought.......

The problem with Fiserv is not surprises. It is a totally redundant program. The borrowers knew all the terms as they were on page 3 of the hud. If it were an Amtrust we would have been done in 5 minutes, but the Fiserv program itself is the cause of over an hour on the computer.

Re: amtrust is light years ahead of fiserv...

I agree wholeheartedly! The first Fiserv I did took 1 1/2 hours and the second one wasn't much better. They need to study Amtrusts e-signings and learn something. Unless I am desperate I don't think I will ever do another Fiserv. It wasn't just the way they have all of the docs online, some to be signed online, others ink sign, it was the fact that I got booted out of the system a couple of times and you then need to logout and log back in.

And it would be great if Speedy's checks were actually in the mail, and BoA document packages were 80 pages, and no signing agent anywhere would underecut another signing agent's fee, and you'd fly me to New York where we would have dinner and see the latest on Broadway.

Of those, I suspect the last is actually the most probable, and we all know exactly how likely it is I'll be packing a suitcase.

Just in case, though, Lisa -- my preference is Italian food and musicals.

I did a Fiserv E-signing and it took forever! I know my way around computers and software packages and this was a nightmare! The loan agent told the buyer it would take about 45 minutes. Not so! More like an hour and 45 mins! Not user friendly at all! I woundn't take any less than $100 to do another one! Maybe even more since I still had so much printing to do and faxing back before dropping the docs.
