This was included among some notary instructions:

<<County on the notary section of the Deed of Trust must be completed by the notary and initialed.>>

1. Who in the heck else do they think would/should complete it?

2. Why initial if it's not a correction??

Yep, they must have some notaries who aren't completing the venue. Ugh!

I bet you they meant to say county where notarization takes place. I don't understand why they fill it in instead of leaving it blank in the first place.

I think the computer generates the filled in portions of the notary ack.

And if it isn't

not any more work (except for drawing one line and initializing) than if it was blank. I'd say 95% of the time it is correct. Like Julie said, saves me time.

I had a signing last week that a different venue was pre-filled in-- incorrectly--on three different forms. It just boggles the mind sometimes.
