How much influence do we have?
I asked this question because we often post about forming NSA unions and Networks but we really don't know if we have any strength or "bite in our bark".
It is easy to determine this with little or no effort. If a SS can instruct NSA to post favorable comments to increase their ratings, why can't we express what we thing about their efforts in their comment section of S/C?
With the right amount of bite in our cumulative barks, we'll be able to see how much power we really have and watch the ratings change just like the stock market. I already have!

"....why can't we express what we think about their efforts in their comment section of S/C?" Easy enough, post a comment on the forum & then link it to the company!

I checked & there are several comments posted about those comments from the last 2 days.

Re:Are You Sure......
this is what you want to do? I was under the impression that the comments section was created to state facts of the working relationship you have with a company, whether it be bad or good. Why glog it up with what is going on in the forum part especially if a person is posting over in the comments section and they havent even worked for the company. I think that would lead to abuse of the system that Harry has set up. IMO of course.

Re: Re:Are You Sure......
We certainly can express our thoughts in SC on this board, and in other areas here. I believe we should do so only with first hand experience. And my heartfelt thanks go out to all that do! Unfortunately what we post is of little consequence to the deadbeats, and thieves in this business. Most care little of what the (mostly well informed) members/readers here think. They prey on the uninformed, the newbies, and the desperate. Their intent from the start is to defraud those that will work for them. And when things get too bad they fold, change names, and start again. Or For those that do pay, but offer paltry fees, they also could care less. You work for them, under their terms, and conditions, or not. The owners, just hire more schedulers, and the schedulers (like the Energizer Bunny) just keep calling, and calling, and calling. They care only for profit, and little about the end result, the borrowers experience at closing, the quality of the work, (fax back the whole package, and we will call you and let you know if it’s okay to ship) or if you will work for them again. Some of these are big companies that many that read here still work for. I can understand being uninformed about a company, and “taking a chance” on them, and being cheated. But knowingly working for deadbeats, or low-ballers? This I cannot understand. I have never worked with Nations Direct, SOX, FASS, NREIS, or many of the other often mentioned here, so I can’t comment. However if anyone does work for someone and have a bad experience, they should post it. It may not put the deadbeats out of business, but it will hopefully save a colleague some grief.

Re: Re:Are You Sure......
OK, lets get this straight, lol. James, you want people to go to the Comments Section in SC and post their opinions on a company based on what a particular company has done in the Forum. Correct?? For this particular conversation, you are saying if they dont like what this company has done in our forum, they should post this in the Comments Section. Not based on their personal experience with a company.
Am I getting this correct?

That is what I'm saying. The people on this forum are very intelligent and observe then follow with their individual comments. That's it.

Well then go for it. I dont agree with it, but thats just me I will stick with posting in the Comments Section in SC with companies Ive had a personal working relationship with. And I will continue to link postings on the forum to companies that are listed over in SC.

Re: Re:Are You Sure......
I think there is some fear by some of us to post names of companies or fear of some reprisal to post some of this stuff. Be assured that as long as we don't post anything stupid that could cause issues, there is no problem with mentioning names, companies and also posting to SC. It also would be great if anyone posts on SC when any company asks us to post favorable comments to inc rease their ratings. However, I don't think there is anything wrong with a company asking the Notary that if they are satisfied with the assignment if they would post a favorable comment. They have to know that if we also aren't satisfied, we post negative comments.

I really like what you posted, how about the SS
sending along a survey to the NSA to respond to and return via self-addressed stamped envelope. The the SS can say "We have 85% approval rating by the people who work for us" and able to back it up with documentation? Then maybe they could advertise without being restricted by forum polices.

I'm with you on that one, Lisa. I would not post a comment
in SC, because I have no personal experience working with that company. I have made comments on the forum, however, about the abuse of the forum for advertising. Let's face it, NR has a reputation for bashing ss. I'm grateful for the forum & SC to help me avoid the low-ballers & deadbeats. It's one of the main reasons I participate. I also won't jump on the bandwagon & bash a company based on someone else's unfortunate experience.

........ and that is precisely my point. We will never be able to be effective as a group because we all have our personal agendas. Our organization is not the only one losing their effectiveness because of this.
I really could care less about any SS because I can choose to work for them or not. For them to collectively enforce that attitude towards whomever they see fit must be changed if we are to earn a successful stress-free living. IMO

I can see your point to an extent. We are not an
"organization" (that would imply a union), but IMO we are a community. Also, I knew that this business was pretty stressful from the get-go. Again, I'm at the healm, and chose the companies I work with & how hard I try to push myself in any given day/week/month, etc. We have a certain amt. of control over the stress levels (there's always the late docs, etc. from time to time). I'm all for sticking together to try to maintain a certain amt. of integrity for the profession--including decent fees, timely payments, being treated with respect, etc. Any less is ludicrous.
