Message Delete: For Advertising

I did see the original post before it was deleted. Some posters didn't see why advertisements pertaining to NSA jobs should be deleted. I just don't see any point to SSs or TCs making general "we have tons of signings, please sign up with us" posts. If those "tons of signings" are all on the moon, what good is that to anyone (except those on the moon)?.

There is a search feature here. When the client is located in Bubbletown, the company will use the search feature and enter Bubbletown's zip code and the Notaries in or near Bubbletown will get called and the deal will be negotiated with one of them. Otherwise, what's the use of the generalized advertising? Use the search feature, as the need arises. JMHO

Great post! I was thinking of posting something about that and the fact that recent post (last day) support the fact that SS pick and choose in a discriminating fashion anyway. Example! Just look at the post regarding FASS asking someone from 50 miles away to go into an area that's saturated with nearby notaries. Could it be they're asking because they can't get anyone in the area because they are none paying low-ballers?

We respect territorial boundaries for the most part and the search features are set up to support that; who is the one that's circumventing it? Yes it advertising, trying to build up their database using notrot. Good job Harry and staff!

I agree with you both, and understand why the rules don't allow any specific company to advertise. After all, I think they can access the lists for free anyway.

And if they are listed in Signing Central notaries will find them anyway.
I can just imagine it if every signing company were to advertise on the message board.

What gets me is, I submitted an inquiry about a co. that has a type of bookkeeping program for Notaries and what they thought if anything about it, and got deleted, presumedly for advertising. How can you get an answer if you don't mention a name.? Yes, there is in a sense, advertising, but what is the difference if you inquire in regard a SS, is that not advertising their name.? Perhaps the fact that this was not a SS, had something to do with it, but the inquiry was in the nature of information for a product that could/might be in use already. Yes, I think it's time there was a separate forum/section for this type of thing. How else are we going to find out what's on the market or being offered and how good is it.?

then there's the Equifaxes of the world

My turn to get their latest "please sign up with us" email and work for $70 or $75 (or whatever) including edocs - me and several hundred others, all of whom had their email addresses included as cc's and not bcc's. This is not too impressive! And naturally, there was one bright light on the list who decided to respond with "reply all".

For these types, hitting the delete button is easy. I agree that it would be awful to have this board filled up with folks (and it would probably be nearly all bottom-feeders) trying to promote their company. It's not too unlike what we had last week with a particular ss getting some of their notaries to do their promoting for them. It wasn't too well received.

However, there might be some merit in having another separate forum for that purpose. The exception I can think of that might be helpful would be when a good company gets a new client and/or expands into a new area. However some companies might prefer to be selective about who gets added to their data base instead of just dealing with paperwork from all interested parties. I don't run a ss so I have no idea if the good ones would have any interest in this kind of thing, but I doubt it. If that's the case, then it's not worth the effort.
