OMG, This one's a doozy!
I just got docs from a title co. with whom I have never worked until (maybe) now. There is a Noatry's affidavit which basically says that I am a duly commissioned notary, etc. I have no problem signing that. However, the bottom half says in part: "I hereby agree to protect, defend XYZ Title Company from any actions which may arise as a result of this verification of identity."

So if it’s not the person you say it is (by verifying their signature/identity) and they have a problem, you are holding them harmless. For this one you may need more than E&O insurance?

The EO emailed me back and said I could line it out. That's just what I did. Otherwise, I would not sign that paper!

I think this may beat the document that James refused to sign, which led to a lawsuit...
I can't imagine any notary in his or her right mind agreeing to sign this.

It's simply the work of a non-lawyer trying to play smart-lawyer.
How ridiculous.
