OT - Downloading songs on IPOD Nano

Hello,

My husband surprised me with an IPOD Nano and I know absolutely nothing about downloading music. I am the process of downloading ITunes on my computer and wasn't sure if this is the only way to download music to the player or if I can download through any website that has music downloads. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

TIA!

Advice from my 16 yr old......

While there are other ways of downloading music, iTunes is the safest, legal way to get music on your Nano. Enjoy!

I use Wal-mart to download music.

.99 a song last time I used WM.

I use Amazon.com

They have a free song every day (not always something I want to download) and most songs are $0.99. It downloads to both Windows Media Player and iTunes. I prefer the Media Player because my kids can d/l something from me, whereas with iTunes you can only d/l to one iPod from each account. Yes, a few months ago my 19 year old son downloaded a bunch of my music - maybe mom is cool after all!!!

Amazon also gives me free downloads when I buy my kid's college textbooks or if I buy CD's for someone's b-day gift.

Brenda, I'll have to check out Walmart!

I'm just now reading your post about iTunes free song/day. Will have to check into this. Thank you.

Re: Since we're OT . . . ,

I just got DH a Sansa Clip Plus. What can I do without going broke? He loves music from 50's and 60's (some 70's).

Without going broke?

Hmmm...best advice? You should plan on going broke buying music.

I know a young woman who was popped with a lawsuit for getting music illegally. In her last year of college she had to pay $5,000+ to get herself out of that one. You can buy a lot of must for $5,000! Smile

By the way...only needing music and not needing "trendy"...

I purchased an off-brand, not an IPod device, to listen to music on. My device was about $50 +/- and a similar IPod was 4 times that much. You can also buy a lot of music for the difference in price of those devices. Smile

You've got a point there Brenda. My Sansa Clip Plus (Sandisk) was a lot cheaper--and with good reviews. That break in price should amount to something, huh? Thanks

Re: Without going broke?

Yes. "Legal" I'm not afraid of . . . only "going broke" LOL!

Are there sites where I can get DH's kind of songs cheaper than .99?
And, I've read that Windows Media Player is the recommended player.

The mp3 is a new toy to me, so I'm trying to figure it all out as quickly as I can so he can make use of it before the format becomes obsolete <grin>

But any recommendations for cheap (even free if it's legal) old music for a Windows Media Player and the Sansa Clip Plus would be greatly appreciated.

TIA for the help.

Think my husband uses iTunes...minimal yearly fee

but he doesn't face jail..Smile AND he gets all the music he wants - and he's a 50's and 60's fanatic too - just have to be very very careful and many remakes sound just like the originals..

He's happy with them.

Can music from iTunes be transferred to WindowsMediaPlayer?
