You're all laughing about the cruise suggestion...

In 2003 the Signing Registry had a nice cruise to Ensenada. I think we all had fun, networked and learned some stuff, too!

I was on that cruise with Shoshana, Kelley, Connie and other signing agents. I brought
my son, James Bergstrom, and we had a fabulous time and made some life long friends.

Yep! I remember. In fact, I think I sat at your table. That was my first cruise and certainly was not my last!

I laughed because it's so not in my reality to "cruise", no

matter what the cause or benefit.

I'm in another world entirely. Didn't mean to demean cruisers, it's just foreign to me. No offense intended.

If it's financial, get your feet wet with the short cruise to Ensenada out of LA or San Diego.
I used to think I would get so bored that I would walk off the end of the ship! LOL! But they are really nice!

There are a lot of people on this forum I would enjoy meeting. I think the issue is that this is not the place to make that sort of announcement. IMO As far as timing, that also may not be a good thing.

I Sponsored my wife's class reunion, yes all by myself. It took me 2 1/2 years. Fliers, Venue, menu, deposits, collecting funds, hotel discount, travel, contest, security, everything. And I did it from 400 miles away using telephone calls, snail mail with returned self-addressed envelopes mostly. It can be done but I didn't contact one person at work. There was money left over ans a scholarship was started. It was a blast.

No this is not the place.

I'm a cruiser, Shoshana. Wrong place to advertise.

Not to mention a very self-serving suggestion

Since she also is involved with a travel agency available to book the cruise.

Sorry - had that shown up in leisure it may have received a more friendly welcome.

Good point, Linda. Leisure would have been

a better place to post. Unfortunately, the poster has ticked off the audience.

I think the reason was the poster was really promoting her signing service. Her advertising had already been deleted twice, and I think she saw the cruise message as a way of getting her post through.

Cruises are fun! I enjoy my yearly ones with Bruce.

It wasn't about the cruise. It was about this person's

devious attempts at advertising her businesses on this site.

This forum would get more of a response for a cruise...

...than Leisure, but the idea should not be presented by a person that would benefit. A couple of years ago when business was good, would have been a better time to plan an NSA cruise.

Ultimately, somebody would make money on it.

I daresay, that if one of the more well known notaries was a travel agent, nobody would blink an eye. The notary who planned the SR cruise made money on it. I see nothing wrong with that.
If somebody from this board buys artwork from James, he makes a profit. There's nothing wrong with that.

No No No

Although I don't sale my paintings on this board (I give them away) my profit would be determined by re-couping the cost of my framing, paint and time. I would never advertise on this board in violations of the guidelines I agreed to abide by. I don't ever offer them for sale on the other sites.

James. I never accused you of advertising. There's nothing wrong with selling your paintings and making a profit. That's a good thing! I admire your talent.

cruise

If I could afford it, I would jump at the chance to go on a cruise and hear everyone's war stories about mobile notarizing!

Here's the problem with this case...

It's not the she was talking about a cruise per say. brought up in another context, it would probably be okay...

The fact is that this person has:

- Been promoting the NNA quite gleefully (talk about not knowing her audience!)
- Been advertising her signing service

She's been deleted twice for advertising...

So she comes back a third time opening with MORE advertising about "her" travel services.... then again mentions the NNA and her signing business.

She didn't get the hint the first two times...so her third attempt by throwing in a cruise was actually pretty sad.

Marian, I totally understand that.

She is an opportunist. She is also persistent.

"It's not the she was talking about a cruise per say"

That should be "per se"... It's a Latin phrase...

Don't mean to be the language police here, but I had a boss who thought it it meant "for instance"; I would cringe every time he used it that way in a meeting, so I may be overly attuned to it. You spelled it wrong but you used it correctly, which is more than I can say for him... Smile

That's what I meant... and as an English Major that is embarrassing.

But, since I'm less than a month out of major surgery and still on some funky meds... eh.... it happens. Smile

It's a Latin phrase, Marian, so as an English major you're off the hook.
