300....except when they include an Appraisal with gorgeous color pictures that will still print b&w on my printer--as big black unrecognizable blobs. Then I go to economode for that and they will now be light grey almost recognizable blobs.

The lowest dpi my printer goes is 600 and that's what I use. Like Lee, I use economode for printing appraisals. The photos come out very poorly, but too bad. We should not even be asked to print the appraisal IMHO. I had one last week for BOA - printed it in economode and lo and behold found out at the appt that the borrowers had already received a copy!

I had the exact same thing happen to me last week. "Well, now you have two" Big Smile

I also print 600 dpi with EconoMode and have never had a problem.

John, every printer is going to be a little bit different. I suggest you print a sample page for each option and see what you like best. What works best for me for most of my printers is a 300 dpi setting. BTW, my HP printers don't have that option for PCL6, so I downloaded a PCL5 driver which offers 300 dpi. It looks better than economode, but is using less toner. Since most of these docs are probably going to get scanned and shredded, the key is that the quality is good enough for a decent scan.

The biggest problem I have is not with my printer settings, but with quality of some of the scans I receive. The biggest problem seems to be with the new HUD (especially with one client), with color and teeny tiny font in the original. Practically impossible to read - and upgrading the settings to best quality didn't help a bit.
