Advertising
Question...how many of you pay for a website to advertise your signing agent businesses? (I don't mean the "free" ones...)

Probably all of us, I pay two sites and they are well worth it.

What's your point?

There is no need for your testy response Ilene. Please try to respond to people's simple, innocent inquiries maturely.
The reason I inquired is that I have not used that method to advertise and I'm not well versed in how to go about setting one up. I was hoping to get some HELPFUL advice. I will inquire elsewhere.

I do....I paid my 19 year old son to create and manage it (edit when I need him to), he recommended the hosting, etc. He's the family computer whiz/guru. Sons are great!!!

Ah, that's why I have to do everything myself! LOL (No sons, only daughters. But they bring joy to my life.)

Daughters fix things. Mine do carpentry, plumbing, light electrical and mechanical in a pinch. I send them up to clean the gutters too. I have no sons. But daughters do tend to bring son's in.

Re: Paw
I hear that! I always said that I'm the 'son' my dad always wanted (female here) and I have two brothers.
It's just that my dad and I were always very close and he taught me a little about everything so I am the one with the power tools in my house and I'm the one who uses them. I even teach my hubby how to use them

Bravo, are you asking about paid advertising on a site like this one or are you asking about setting up your own web page to advertise? I'm not quite sure I understand your question, which might explain the answers you received.

I'm referring to having my own web page. I don't know how many venues/ways there are to do it nor how to set it up. I'm not inclined to want to spend alot on one right now since my business has slowed down so much, but at the same time feel like maybe it would be helpful if I could figure out how and where to do it. (I already have a listing here in N.R and with numerous other agencies.) Anything you could share with me about the process would be helpful.

Re: Advertising via website
I firmly believe that anyone in business today needs to have a website. Despite all of the "free" ones available (with membership, etc.) I have found that Go Daddy is a fabulous way to set up one's own website. Choose your domain name(s) wisely. The formats available to customize a website are all professional and easy to use. If I can do it, so can a lot of other people. This route has worked for me - and doesn't cost a lot either!

Carole is right + I use GoDaddy.com too
Google cannot find you if you use a free or piggy-back website.
Or perhaps Google found you but put you on page 27. Quite possible.
Good luck!

I received hundreds of calls for site optimization
since I purchased a domain from Go Daddy, all wanting you to pay the thousands to get you on page 1 of a google search. Here's the catch they couldn't guarantee it, but the calls really get irritating, you'll get 10 calls in one day from the same company, but different people. Almost all of these people are calling from the Seattle, WA area, makes you wonder if Microsoft layed off all of their programers? I've had over 1000 calls from site optimizers and some try to trick you into believing that you have to purchase and that they are working with Go Daddy. You'll probably run into the same thing with other domain sites too. These guys sit on the internet and when you get listed for a domain (it's a public record) they put you on a list and sell it to these companies. At least, I gave them my MagicJack # that I hardly ever answer and you won't believe some of the messages they leave.

Re: I received hundreds of calls for site optimization
I have several websites and those people who call to offer site optimization are real scammers. They watch the domain registrations and get your name from that. The calls die down after you ignore them. I have a message machine to screen my calls for instances just like this. If you do a lot of research you can find the methods of optimization without paying their thousands of dollars.
