Came across a jurat that said....
And I quote,
"Sworn so and described before me this ______ day of _____________, 20____."
And a notary had signed and stamped it. Without of course, specifiying the type of identification, including a venue, or printing his name under the signature, as required in Florida.

I have come across lots of wrongly filled out notary certificates. As a signing service I always have notaries who haven't worked with me before fax me a copy of the notarized pages. I had to call one notary to tell her she hadn't filled out the certificate with the ID submitted. Her response was she couldn't add anything to the certificate as it would be UPL. I had to convince her that she had to fill out the certificate correctly.
Also, check this stamp that a notary used when doing a loan signing, instead of the official notary stamp. I called her about it and she told me the NNA told her it was acceptable when they sold it to her.

Hope that link works OK
We could take up a whole forum with the horrendous errors we see.

LOL..."described"....hmmmm We see flagrant errors all the
time. If you're going to make a hobby or job of being a "notary police" you will be very busy. Many states have little or no requirements to become a notary. The only reason that many of us are more aware is because we got involved in the signing agent business, handle a lot of docs & notarizations, and took the time to learn our trade accordingly. I'm with you on the expectations that things should be done correctly. The only notary I'm responsible for is me. I can't control the actions of another person, in this business or anywhere else in life. Many of us participate in this forum to learn & share what we've learned. It's my hope that it will improve the industry as a whole.

I just renewed my commission and the jurat for me to file by mail was incorrect. You would think state secretary would have this correct. It had the jurat listed above.
