Consumer Title Check Bounced!!!!!!

Not only am I having to hound Consumer Title about payment for two closings that are more than 60 days past due, to add insult to injury they sent me a check that was no good and the person I was told to contact that handles payments so far I can not reach. Her mailbox is full.
Anyone doing closings for Consumer Title should really be careful. If you read former post, you will see that this is not the first time they have sent out a check that was not payable. For a while I have suspected that they are having financial problems and about to go under.

Look online at the state website to see who the registered agent is. Oftentimes, title companies are owned by attorneys. If the registered agent is an attorney, I've had good success collecting when I write a letter to the State Bar complaining about the failure of the attorney to fulfill his/her contractual obligations. A bounced check is just fuel for the fire. One time, I faxed the letter to the attorney's office before sending it and they fell all over themselves getting my payment FedEx'd to me - that company had bounced a check to me, too.

Consumer Title has been on my watch list for a while too! They were good to work but..They have been taking longer and longer to pay. I did get a bounced check in Dec. they made good but I really havent done anything for them since. I used to work with them a lot!

Do not redeposit the check. Right now you have a check drawn on insufficient funds. You have both civil and criminal remedies available for this.

If you redeposit the check and they stop payment on it...you no longer have a check that will support the above remedies.

My mistake the check that bounced was from last summer. I had no reason to question them until Dec. Payments have been taking longer and longer since then.
