No excuses, just delays.
I tried calling Jeri and Bill at their extensions. Both message boxes were full and neither answered. Not a good sign...... After a little pass-around, through Scheduling and to Vendor Maintenance (extension 7105), I got to speak with Lauren (extension 6837). She's very pleaseant and doesn't understand what's going on, and does not try to make excuses. She sends emails to the Accounts Payable folks. She sees a spreadsheet with the status of forthcoming payments. My check for 1/8/10 was prepared on 1/15/10, but has not been mailed. She said it is SUPPOSE to go out today, but she can't promise, since she does not send the mail. The spreadsheet shows another signing in January, but with no indication of when the check will be prepared or mailed. Two signings in February don't even show up on the "maybe, someday in the future" spreadsheet. Things aren't looking good.
