Journal sizes...
Maybe I'm alone in this, but is anyone else a bit annoyed at times by the standard journal sizes out there? I use the MoJo right now... but I've found it to be too big sometimes. In other words, I'd rather have a smaller book, something like 8.5"x5.5". Considering those of us in CA have to keep our journals locked up, too... this can cause headaches when traveling. My briefcase locks... and that's okay, but on quickie jobs, sometimes I don't need the whole thing.
There is no legal requirement for journal size or format (at least in CA), just the type of information we record. For all the SOS cares, we can write it all down by hand in a regular moleskin journal if all the information is present.
So... am I alone? Is there anyone out there that would like to see smaller format journals on the market?

I use a rather large journal... 8.5 x 11. It is quite unlike the other journals I have seen. It places the whole entry together rather than split across two pages. I got this initial format from my bonding company and since I've gotten use to it I have stuck with that format, although I am currently using a journal I designed myself and had printed and bound by Kinkos.

I agree with you. The larger journals are more difficult to carry and often times take up too much room on a very small signing area.

I've been buying the hard cover mojos from here. The hard cover comes in very handy some times as a writing surface when space is at a premium. For example, this week, I had a situation where I needed to get the signature of an elderly husband and wife. The wife was ill and not able to get around easily, so we took everything to the sofa where she was sitting. She used my journal as a clipboard to sign on and she didn't have to move.

I use a 5 x 7 made by a local stamp and seal company. I also had a rubber stamp made up that has most of the documents I notarize and then I just check the box. The smaller journal is a lot easier to handle than the larger one. My state does not require a journal but I still use one.

No, not really. Write big, need space. Love the binding.
MoJo is so accomodating for my needs.
Brilliant!

I write large, Marian.
So a smaller journal suggest to me, smaller boxes to write my notes. For loan closings I'm frequently running out of space. I use NotRot's journal. For my general notary work I have plenty of writing room.

What I would really like to find is a wire bound journal. I jus hate trying to write legibly with the pages on the right making a huge mound.
