Just sharing

but I happen to live in between 2 major hospitals here in town (one walking distance and the other 3 miles) and I have passed on my information to the visiting nurses association of those hospitals as well as to the end of the Life teams and I hve been getting quite a bit of calls for notarizations ... with the slow move on closings it is not bad ... of course it is not in the XXX dollars but still 3/4 of that (for the in house hospital) add 25 to that for the home visits if over 5 miles.

I am in a situation where I am putting 3 kids thru college and as much as scholarships do cover somewhat it is still expensive ... however will not stoop at a closing for less than XXX.

Have a great eve all,

Good for you. We all face times in our lives when we just do what we have to do and what you are doing just makes good sense.

make sure those signers are lucid....

I get tons of calls from local nursing homes and others, for notarizations on Wills or POA, or other similar docs, and I always ask if the signer is cognizant, lucid or knows what they're signing. If not, I don't bother to go out because its not worth the risk..

good luck to you and hope it picks up for you (and for me too!) Wink

Re: make sure those signers are lucid....

Oh yes .... making really reaally sure they are there with their mind ,,, and yes I hope it will pick-up for all of us ... as I said in a previous post now we have to bank on the loaners that work on commission to start to push their loans so we can go out and sign ... my guess if that happens by the end of the week we should see a push.

Also that they have a picture ID....just received a call

yesterday from the VA and my first question is do they have a picture ID...then to be followed are they lucid and do they know what is going on. They did not have the ID it was not sent with them to the hospital (which I really do not understand this at all). The caller could not understand why I could not notarize a POA w/o ID. They went on and on telling me that VA had all of their records...well that is great...but no can do for me. I referred them back to their attorney.

I am gald that you are having succes with general work....sometimes it is profitable and sometimes a big PIA.

I had a similar experience CF

call from a family member of patient at VA...fee agreed to, I mention "make sure he has his ID available for me"...caller says "Oh...we're not sure where that is - it didn't come to the hospital with him..we'll need to find that...I'll call you back"...never did hear back from them.

I suppose if they're admitted in an emergent situation, photo ID is the last thing on any family member's mind...

Re: I had a similar experience CF

I did not think of that way. However, the hospitals, medical offices, and labs are now asking for photo ID in my area. This just started to happen and I was told that people are stealing health care benefits....so they are verifying the ID to the health insurance card to the person in front of them.

Another great American victory....we can not even provide basic health care to our citizens that pay taxes to provide health care to the government employees. When will we all wake up?????

They've been doing that here in FL at least since

I moved here in 2006 - and I'm sure well prior to that - before the receptionists even say "Hi, how are you today?" their first words are "Insurance card and photo ID please"....Smile

GOOD ON YOU ! ! !

That's terrific!

If the hospital notaries cannot notarize for patients (they cannot in Calif and can in WA) then take your business cards to
Hospice office
Nurse's stations, esp Med/Surge and ICU and CCU
Oncology office and nurse's station

And don't forget the medical professional offices near the hospitals.

I LOVE foreign baby adoption work so take cards to General Practice and Pediatric offices.
Hand them to the ofc mgr in person, don't just drop off.
Using a stamp as well as an embosser is a huge help to the parents.

You totally rock!
