NPBC

A few years ago when everyone was advised to have a NPBC I did have one done through NotRot. Now it is "outdated" and some of the companies I work with are, again, advising we have one done through them or through someone they recommend. I had not once been asked if I had a NPBC after going to the expense of having it done. Should I have to pay out monies for this once more and not be asked (except for the 2 - 3 companies that have requested it now)? Shouldn't there be a way to just have the original updated? Or just "noted" that it was done on a certain date and let them decide if we have turned into criminals since then.

As far as I am concerned, it is a very small price to pay for being in this business. People can argue all day long with me....but I am not the one with the orders, therefore, I am not the one calling the shots. I can guarantee that mine has paid for itself more than 100 times over. If you get one job from having one it has paid for itself. This is a very low overhead business to operate and the fees and expenses that are required are very reasonable, if you ask me. JMO-

imho, this is just a money-maker for someone--not us! As to whether or not 'this' is more acceptable than 'that', usually you can negotiate acceptance. Facts: the GLBA never did mandate these (tho' it was allowed if a Lender wanted these). It did not become 'popular' (for lack of a better word) until 7 years AFTER the GLBA was passed...with a whole lot of help from a certain national organization. It is worthless the moment it is completed as it is simply history. Prior to the 'marketing blitz', if a co. wanted it, they paid for it.

I don't have a problem with BGC's, and ultimately think they're a good thing in this business.
You can be sure that most of the companies we're working for don't have them, nor a credit check. Wouldn't it be great to require this of ss? What gets my back up is that it was XYZ
who marketed the whole BGC thing, and of course profitted from it.

Re: Thanks for the "feed back"

I guess I will just "think over" the pros and cons of another BGC. It seems that the companies that expect us to have them updated are the ones that I get the least assignments from.
