Does not matter, if you are not going to be paid

They might as well ask you to work for free.

Used to pay $65 + $25 for edocs. I found that they took the "suggested minimum" fee schedule published by NNA literally & wouldn't budge from that fee.

I'm seeing everyone reducing the amount paid. My best SS just explained to me they are being "pressure" to lower fee offering. I guess the workaround would have to be, to consider it a volume discount! Wink

Just a Thought!

It seems to me that if they are not paying their notaries. And the notaries are refusing to take signings from them.
Shouldn't they be paying more because they are having trouble finding notaries to work for them???

Re: Just a Thought!

Be glad they don't agree to $150, then you do and then.....zilch, nada. Broken promises for any amount are broken promises.

Basic Economics 101--Supply & Demand

Volume of business is down, driving fees down. I know the ss are having to bid lower in order to get contracts. What gets me about that is that they are negotiating my fee. It's not good to assume I will accept a lower fee, even though that's certainly the direction it's headed in.
Prices up--income down--great middle America!

Re: Basic Economics 101--Supply & Demand

I think this 'contract' talk is just a bunch of horsefeathers because I have received same Lender/TC thru various (as many as 4) SS in the same month.

Re: Basic Economics 101--Supply & Demand - Yep!!

It's supply and demand when it comes to notaries, too. In most areas, apparently, there are still more notaries than the supply requires, so they can just call the next person on the list. I'm fairly certain that when they're making their business calculations they're thinking about their own costs vs. revenue, not ours. That's the last thing that would enter into the equation. Of course, there will always be some exceptions to the rule, but as overall business volume winds down, business entities at every level are challenged with finding ways to cover the bills, let alone maintain profitability.

Re: Basic Economics 101--SS Spread

I have seen some larger spreads latley....ie $100 edocs to the Notary & $225 on the HUD. Less than half bothers me even though I accepted the fee before seeing the HUD.

What is everyone else seeing?

I see the $225 on the HUD a lot!

I've done tons of work for them and always had them pay SUBSTANTIALLY more than that. There's plenty of competition in my area, so I'm surprised that they wouldn't budge from the NNA's schedule.

They started slow-paying in the fall, but they are paying. It just takes a LONG time.
