Orlando Notaries: Beware of Genuine Title

Got a call from Shannon Smoot for a "RESPA" signing at 6 tonight in zip 32812. She talked really fast and offered a fee that was initially unacceptable, but finally agreed to come up a little and I accepted the assignment.

After I received the docs via email a few minutes later and realized what company she represented, I emailed her back declining the assignment based on the negative feedback from other notaries. I have received calls from Genuine Title in the past, but they were much clearer about who they were. Since they offered only $90 for edoc closings, I have always turned them down.

Shannan thought she had me hooked by promising the closing to me also, but a $90 closing is no incentive for me. That is especially true when the company in question has a bad reputation.

I know. I never would have accepted when she called, but she did not speak clearly so I didn't know what company I was dealing with. I turned it back as soon as she sent the docs and I realized what company she represents.
