Supplies & Equipment
Starting out as a Certified Signing Agent what do I need? I have a cell phone, computer, printer. I know there are services out there that receive docs, faxes, etc. Does anyone recommend any of there services.

You need to let people know who, and where you are. A good place to start is with a Premium Membership here. Many read this board.

Hopefully your printer is a good laser printer. I use Trustfax for faxes (used to use Maxemail and recently changed to Trustfax) With e-docs the company determines how they send them to you. Some may e-mail you a PDF file, others will have you go to their secured server to download them.

Mikki....
You need to do more research before you even start working. Click on the orange search button and search for Msg#33325. Some of the earlier stuff in that thread it outdated, but much of it still applies. READ READ READ and take notes. There's a lot of stuff there.
Once you're done there, use the search function and you'll find LOTS of answers to your questions that have been posted here through the years.
Do yourself a favor and don't start working until you've done the research.

Wow! You really are new. You should have done all of this research and had your supplies before you started. What I use maybe diffrent that what you use. Basics are a good laser printer and copier that has legal size capabilties and prints at least 22 ppm. You need a fax, because at times some of them maybe as large as 50+ pages. E fax may not accodate that big of load. You need cases of legal paper, extra toners, business cards, breif case, paper clips and binder clips, filing cabinet, log book, post notes, notary journal, blue pens (most states require), fed ex and ups envelopes and labels, filing cabinet, and thats just the basics. A GPS is priceless, and of course a good car, cell, computer.

Dogs biscuits, hand wipes, and as for pens, the type you don't care about giving up, especially if someone besides you has been chewin' on them..

Beside those items that Linda mentioned, I always carried crayons and colouring books for the borrowers children - kept them occupied while parents were signing loan docs, and I got some great "art" for my refrigerator

I use those little games with the metal balls that you roll into the eyes of kittens or dogs, can't remember what they're called right now. I get a hundred at a time from Oriental Trader.
