The new direction of our business
It appears to me based on the posts I've seen lately in the forum, our concerns are the same "the time it takes to receive payments for our services". I do not understand how a company can call us at the last minute for a signing, we are supposed to be professional, on time and error free and get the documents back to them in a timely manner and then they take from 30 to 60 days or longer to pay does not make sense to me. There seems to be no respect for the notary that we have provided a service and we have our own obligations to meet bothers me.

Lately I have been sticking to the companies that pay in a timely manner. With some I get my check within 15 days and with others within 30 to 40 days but they pay. The companies that go over the 40 day period I just turned them down when they call me till they are up to date with their pmt. No indeed there seems to be no respect for us Notaries but than we always have the liberty to choose a different path.

"...we always have the liberty to choose a different path."
That's 100% correct, that's why I now choose the "pay as you go" plan, I'll "go" do their closing once they deposit the "payment" in my Paypal account. I'm not a bank that gives interest free loans. I choose not to pay for supplies & transportation and waste my personal time on a bunch of deadbeat ripoff artists.

So, gotta ask - how's that working out for ya...
How often do companies agree to pay you up front, versus just moving on to the next notary on their list?

Do it with the companies that have a *rapsheet* however if you have a few companies that use you on a regular base than perhaps do not demand or they will go to the *next* one on the list.

Amen Chuck!
- they demand perfection from us, but where is the professionalism on their part. It is unfair to say the least.
