Business card info
Good morning all! Not sure if this has been discussed previously, but thought I would give it a try. I am in the process of redoing my business cards and had a couple of questions for the group: For those whose office address is their home address, do you put your address on your card? My husband is not too keen on having our home address out there for anyone to see and he thinks that the card would be fine witout it. Also, I had a little picture with some XYZ graphic and phrasing that I think would be better replaced with something else, but again, husband thinks that it lends a sort of credibility to me as a Signing Agent and Notary. Do most lay people even know what XYZ is and does it even matter. Sorry so long and looking forward to reading people's thoughts.

"For those whose office address is their home address, do you put your address on your card?" No....I put my county and state only "I had a little picture with some XYZ graphic and phrasing that I think would be better replaced with something else, but again, husband thinks that it lends a sort of credibility to me as a Signing Agent and Notary." Think this is all a matter of personal preference...I won't advertise for them...so none of their graphics on my cards....perhaps you can find another graphic that will do the trick.

I use my address but sometimes wish I hadn't. Am thinking of getting another set without address for those I meet on the street, so to speak. All other forms of advertising I use just phone number.
I have no logos except my own. I also do not advertise for others where there is no benefit to me. If Coke wants me to advertise, they have to pay me. Same for any designer clothing - pay me and I will wear it. Otherwise, no labels showing.

Oh, I will wear state and national parks stuff - but that belongs to We, the People....

I do have my home address on my card, but I would think that would be an area-specific decision. As to XYZ anythings....the general public has never heard or them, so I doubt including that would add points. And y'all know how experienced notaries feel about them--I agree with Linda...be danged if I'd advertise for an organization that is killing us.

Your home address is all over the internet already.
I see you have it in your NotRot profile.

Yeah, I know that. I think he is just paranoid about that stuff (comes from being in the car business, one reason our home phone is blocked).

Yeah, there have been one or two occasions when I've been stranded by the side of the road late at night when I've wished I had a car dealer's home phone. And the cable company president. And the dentist who said "You'll have a little discomfort later on." And the AC repairman in August who just "fixed" my unit.

I am now using the AAN logo on mine
Discountlabels.com has inexpensive *raised print* business cards which you can custom design with the logo of your choice. I think the raised print really adds a professional touch, and I use the logo of the American Assoc. of Notaries, of which I am a member.
That said, if I were going to get color business cards I think the ones offered here on Notary Rotary look really nice - particularly the one with the gold seal looking thing.

I do not have my address on my business cards. I also had the XYZ logo on my cards, silly me. I'm going to replace it with the ASN logo. I have it on there because I think it establishes a professional demeaner. My .02

I never put my address on my cards. I will say the area I serve but not my home address. I don't really like strangers coming to my house. I do really like the cards they sell on this site and am planning on ordering some of them when I am out of the other ones.

I use a PO Box for an address
That way, anyone who wants to send me something by snail mail can, and keeps the unwanteds from my domicile. Verizon published my former address (by mistake) with my phone number, and I've heard from prospective clients that they have often "stopped by" and bothered the new tenants wanting notarizations from me.

When I started in this business I was a recent widow and lived alone on 2 acres.
I didn't want anyone having my home address unless they really need it for a delivery or something. Even though I am married again and live in a neighborhood now, I still use a P.O. Box

Thank you for everyone's thoughts on this. It seems that most people agree not to have a home address on the card, for a variety of reasons. I was also looking through our weekly "Community Courier" and noted that most of the business card ads do not contain a street address, just the phone number and city/town. Some also have an e-mail or web site listed. Maybe I will take a look at the cards available on this site. Thanks again everyone. NotRot is such a wonderful tool!
