By the way, it has been suggested ...
... that people who Post here and do research here should consider buying membership in Notary Rotary. Familiar with the concept of paying for what you get?r
Other people mentioned in PMs that some of us who are proud of our professionalism have linked our Posts to our Profiles. The advantage is that Title Companies, Signing Services, and other people who need our services can see who actually contributes and who ... umm, what's the politically correct term here?r ...

Yes, however there are many over the years who have their profiles linked and have proven their ignorance and arrogance on numerous ocassions. I dare so no company would hire them if they read this board.
I prefer not to link my profile for various reasons and believe that the majority of companies who use this site to find a notary will find me via a zip code search rather than actually take the time to read this board.

Exactly our point!
People who exhibit poor ethics, arrogance, and worse can be spotted and conclusions drawn. Hobbyists will be clearly visible, as will Notary Signing Agents who take their responsibilities seriously. Some times we've had shills here who were quickly spotted.
We're all human. I'm not perfect, and I don't expect perfection in other people. I'm not afraid of standing behind every Post.

Linking or not has nothing to do with professionalism. It's a choice of the individual period.

I agree, however, keep in mind, anything posted on this
forum, is totally subjective to the individual who reads it. What one finds as offensive, others will not.
If a TC or SS or Lender needs an NSA and uses the zip search to find one, they'll do so probably in a hurry and won't necessarily care what's posted on this forum, as long as their job is done, and they get paid first, that's all that really matters. Who are we kidding here...
Successful businesses get their success how? Based on their performance first, not necessarily reputation...not at first.
I can hire an nsa or np, and if they get the job done right the first time and performs professionally while doing so, what do I care what they post on this forum or others?
For me, its performance first, then reputation.

No disrespect mwm143 I was told by two owners of SS ( four stars BTW) they only hire premier members. Whether it's true or not, it's the main reason I have my profile listed. We all have our own reasons and that's mine. I respect what other people choose to do also.

James Being a premier member has nothing to do with linking your profile on the message board:)
I am one who only hires premier members when possible. Premier members listings come up with Find A Notary, just clicking on your profile from the message board doesn't distinguish between premier and basic members.

If being a premier member was the same fee for everyone I might consider it again, but when I get quoted $139.00 and someone else we both know is only billed $60.00 I have a problem with that. I joined this board when it first started and paid only $34.00 for a premier membership, forgot to renew (didn't get any notices) a couple of years and was hit with $139.00, sorry, not going to pay the tab. I've never gotten a closing from this site and just can't see the expense, especially since the fee varies from member to member.

I would NEVER pay that amount...you're absolutely right, me either. Most of my work comes from someplace else.

Most of my work either comes from my premier listing on this site, or it's repeat business that probably came from here several years ago. It's well worth it to me to pay the premium listing.

Yes, you can tell premier members from basic members on the message board. The little orange box next to your name shouts "Premier Member!".

Ah - but if you didn't know about the little orange box shouting Premier Member and clicked on the profile, there is nothing there to suggest premier membership:)

I'm a Premier Member and I don't have an orange box next to my name. Just looking at the posts, it appears that if you link to your profile and are a Premier Member, then you have an orange box. If you don't link, no orange box even if you are a Premier Member. I don't link, so no orange box for me.

You'll have to take that up with Harry who owns the site &
makes the rules. There is no requirement for Premium Membership or for linking a profile on the forum. Some of us link because we aren't afraid to stand behind what we say. On the other hand, it can hurt because it could mean we don't get hired because of something we've said. Linking to the profile is a choice, and I'm sure there are those who pay for Premium & don't link. It's the individual's choice. Unfortunately, this board has a reputation for being "shark infested waters" and there are many who don't post of wouldn't dream of revealing who they are. I don't have a problem with that. If someone chooses to protect their privacy, that is their choice.

Re: orange box
I am a premier member and have been for a long time. I have a profile but am not linked to the posts..I simply don't bother to do it this way. If someone wants to know about me they can always click on my name taking them to my profile. Companies looking to hire me won't be reading this board.
As with any online forum you should never write something that you would be ashamed of that may show up on google!
I never noticed the little orange boxes either..Thanks for that tip Paw!

"I have a profile but am not linked to the posts"
Claudine - linking means what you are doing - making it possible to click on your name and go to your profile.
Some don't link their post to their profile:)

Wrong, has to do with a few imbecils on this forum that used to get your info and proceed to harass you with nasty phone calls and emails if you weren't politically correct in their opinion. Don't need the harassment, I don't link.

Folks, I was being flippant.
Harassment is no joke. I would never wish anyone 4 AM phone calls, hate mail, and so on.
In all sincerity, I suggest that anyone who is concerned about revealing personal information, such as home address, get a Post Office Box and list only a cell phone number.

'Wimps'? Really. Seems it would be the other way 'round.
desktopfull, this rationale has been one of your hallmarks - that access to you results in "harassing" challenges to your posts. Your reference to "imbecils" is an example of your baiting with such a characterization.
There's no "oops" about what you said "aloud."
And while this forum member has never contacted you outside this forum, one can imagine others who may wish to engage you in further conversation about your posted thoughts.
I am no proponant of either position - linked or not-linked - but your catagorizing we "linkers" as "imbecils" is a bridge too far as they say, expecially because you claim: only stupid people contact you with calls and emails if their views differ with yours - as if that's the norm for "linkers".
Who's the "wimp" again?
JMHO, and with all due respect, desk.

Re: 'Wimps'? Really. Seems it would be the other way 'round.
I believe I only referred to the harassers as imbecils, not those that link. I didn't post the oops I was responding to someone else that did. As usual your comprehension skills are lacking. If you don't like my posts you have the option on not reading them. If and when the owner of this site insists on everyone linking then I will until then it's my choice whether anyone else likes it or not.

Susan If you look you will see that DTF was replying to a post with that subject line. She wasn't the one that began the "oops" postings.

One advantage to linking your post
is that if you are in a more populated area, others will see your profile. When you go to the more densely populated areas, the closest 25 premiere members are listed first, then the first 25 basic members are listed. If you are number 26 on premier, then you are basically out of luck in the search. That's where it pays to post your profile. If you have something intelligent to add to discussion, Title companies and lenders might be more apt to click on your link and if they like you, add you to their list of notaries. IMHO
In my area, I'm very lucky that there are less than the 50 total, so it doesnt matter whether or not I get a prmier membershp. I just get it to support the forum. Harry does a great job!
