CT notaries - no increase ...
Because the bill was non-controversial and supported by the Town Clerks, there were enough rats attached to it to sink the Titantic. Bill never made it to the floor; try again next year.
No notary fee or mileage increase this year: remains at $5 "per notarization" and 35 cents per mile.
The bill to model CT's notary handbook after the NNA Model Notary Act also failed.
Question: Do any of you NOT perform notarizations for Wills, trusts or Powers of Attorney? Town Clerks are looking for notaries willing to do this: Market, Market, Market.

Oh, well ... still better than the $1 previously allowed.
Thanx anyway for the update, Bobbi. And, yes, I do those "sideline" jobs from time-to-time.

Market to ANY Town Clerk ...
Because of the time it takes to supervise the execution of Wills (and some Town Clerks do not provide witnesses in addition to notary services) and that many Towns have a policy of "not charging for notarizations," the Town Clerks would be glad to have a knowledgable Notary Public to refer people to. Particularly for mortgage loan packages and Wills.
