Color printer?
I really hope this doesn't sound like a stupid question. I have a black and white laser printer, I am printing the docs for my closing on Thursday and the .pdf is in color.
The instructions say "Printing documents: **The package will contain both legal and letter size documents, if you do not have access to a dual tray laser printer use ALL legal paper. Please review your printed docs to ensure that nothing is CUT-OFF from the documents as this has been a constant problem**If we receive the documents back, and anything is CUT-OFF you will not be paid and you will never be used again The Lender does not have an ink color preference."
But I am not sure if that is talking about the docs or the pen used to sign them. If the .pdf is in color is it imperative for me to print in color?

They are saying the lender doesn't care if you sign in blue or black. I have no idea why a pdf would be in color, but I would defininitely NOT print the docs in color. Just use your black and white laser printer as usual.

"Ink color" refers to the pens that you and the borrowers use when signing. Some want black, some want blue...others don't care.
The "cut off" problem stems from notaries who don't understand how to use their printer settings. This is usually solved by using certain "fit to" commands in the print dialogue.

I always check all my pages anyway so that I haven't missed a blank or anything, so any mis-printed pages would be caught. Its sad that they have to put that in there though.

Or believe it or not, I've heard a story about a notary that printed on letter paper and all the legal sized docs were simply cut off the entire 1/3 bottom of each doc. No worries! The notary simply had the borrowers sign at the bottom!
Needless to say, the docs were resigned with a new notary and the first notary was not paid, nor ever used again. And this was for a company that pays quite well, so it was not a case of lowball fees getting what they pay for.

This is the NVS confirmation. Like taxpro said, they are talking about the ink color used for signing the docs - you can use either blue or black ink.
Yes, the NVS confirmation contains various colors (text is highlighted in different colors so the notary will be sure not to miss the very important info) but I never print that in color. Sometimes, I will get docs with some color on the pdf, such as company logos, but I never print those in color - B&W all the way.
Kaci, if the docs will be used on Thursday, I would NOT print them today. You never know, the docs could get revised and then you have two sets of worthless docs. I have a closing on Wednesday (tomorrow) morning at 10 AM. I got the docs last Saturday. I have not printed them yet - will probably do it tonight or early tomorrow morning. I have learned not to print until much closer to the appointment. It's hard enough to get a decent fee out of these companies for a completed signing, but when they have to pay you a print fee for printing docs that end up getting revised, it can be tough to collect from some companies. One company it happened with last year would only pay me a $10.00 additional print fee.

Copperhead is right, do not print too far in advance, just in case....however, you should ASAP review each and every document on your screen to see if anything appears missing or incorrect. (mispelled names are SO common!) Then you will have time to get corrections/missing items addressed.

Absolutely good advice, Sheila! On the file I have tomorrow, I reviewed it in advance and noticed that the HUD was missing the signature page!!!! Sent an email to TC and I received the missing page well before the appt tomorrow, and crisis was averted!
