Elite Signing Services / Roseville, CA

Anyone get a recruitment email from them?

It looks like they may be a new SS and they are asking for a copy of the notary's driver's license as part of their sign-up package. I don't think so...

I wonder if we shouldn't also ask for a copy of their business license? Wink

Funny you should say that...

Here is my response to their email:

"Are you a new company? When was the company formed? What are your payment terms?

Most of my work is done directly for title and escrow companies, but I do work for a few signing services. I looked at your website and find that your base fees are below what I would accept. Also, I rarely sign contracts and do not send copies of my driver's license to anyone. By accepting an assignment from you I would be extending credit to your company, so I would need to know a little more about you.

I would be happy to work with you on a case by case basis, assuming we can come to an agreement on the fee for each assignment. My information on xxxNotary.com is current, so you know the experience and qualifications I possess."

Not sure if I will receive a response from them, but I am willing to give them a try if we can come to terms. No way am I sending them my DL.

I got the same email

I got the same email today. I sent a reply telling them that I was unable to find any info on their company and asked if they are a new company. The email said they had been in the industry for 10 years, but it didn't really say in what capacity, whether this company was 10 years old, or the employees and/or owners had 10 years experience working for other companies.
I have nothing against a new company, but I need to know their history before extending credit. I asked for the owner's name, address, etc, and if they previously owned or worked for another company. I also asked for notary references.
I don't know if they'll respond or not.

Re: I got the same email

We really should be asking for references from them. They are applying for an open credit account with us, so we need to know their creditworthiness!

Re: I got the same email

I got it too. Did you see that they pay the great amount of FIFTY DOLLARS/signing? And if you change that in the contract it invalidates the contract.

Re: I got the same email

Yes, the fees offered were not something I would consider accepting. I don't know of any "Elite" notaries who would work for the fees in their contract.

I got it too...they pay $50/signing and $35 for printing - total of $85 for signing...still to far below my base fee to even consider.

Re: Funny you should say that...

I recieved an offer from them to join their team as well. after reading about them here in the forum and checking out their website, I have sent a like letter to them. While I will not hold my breath waiting for a reply back from them, if they want to work with me and agree to my fees and tearms I will probably work with them one time. If I get burned they go to my do not use list and name sent to the AG in their state as a fraud, as well as collections

3 different companies??...

... I received an email solicitation yesterday from elitesigners.com , & I think they are in Texas. Elitesignings.com is in Roseville,Ca & signing central has another Elite company that's located in in Kansas City. This is getting confusing.

Noticed that the test on their website contained misspellings and grammatical errors. e.g. the recession period. The only thing receding is my hairline.

I would like to know if anyone has done any signings for them. Are they professional? And do they pay on time?

If they are a professional, reputable signing service, I have no problen ansering any of their questions.
I don't know about you but I can use the work and the money!

I think that what everyone is saying, Pat, is that there is no real info on this company and they are requesting info but not heard back. I'm sure they will update as soon as more info is received. In the meantime, try not to be too desperate - it may not be as good as they say they are.

Same here, read contract sort of a variation of the ones I promised myself I would not sign. Didn't fill out any info but I did take the test so they would see what they would be missing out on via the score I got!

I did the same thing James! Same reason too!

Also, did a bit of research on them.

first inkling of them is 2-22 on Facebook. April 26, 2010 began blogging under Amanda Johnson. One of her posts indicates Nationwide Signing Agents, so am thinking that is where she may have worked. Says hubby has own signing service, but none listed in Roseville so can't speculate there. Not listed in SA on NotRot, nor as company. Did find where she posted to a downloadable site a 7 page list of signing companies with all of their information, without ratings, darn!

Google is grand - few secrets available these days.

They secure at least 2 NA's per loan?

From her blog:
"We then start working IMMEDIATELY to secure at least two experienced and ELITE notaries for that specific zip code, that should be available within the time range. "

If she is stating that they book at least 2 signing agents per loan, that is TOO SHADY a business practice for any SA to put up with. Either be honest and book one, accepting their fees and conditions, or don't.

Also states that her husband has owned his own SS for 10 years. Under what name? If not the same name, why not?

Do they pay both or just the one that shows up?

There are many, including some that read/post on this board that think starting, running and being successful with a SS is a breeze. All you need is a cell phone, and maybe a web site and you’re in business. For the thieves and scammers yes, that’s it. For those that are serious it takes CAPITAL! If you don’t have $50,000.00 EXTRA! after all the ‘start up' costs. Forgitaboutit!

If you personally haven’t done a thousand signings ditto.

If you don’t have YEARS of contacts in the Title/Lending industry ditto.

In case you haven’t noticed it’s a VERY tough market out there now. The new inexperienced will only get jobs by undercutting someone else, and only from borderline companies, on the brink, or known deadbeats, having a hard time getting honest companies/notaries to work for them.
This is a perfect recipe for failure. These guys ask for things that they should not, they can’t spell (something we have in common) and apparently don’t have a clue of what’s involved in this business.

If you want sign up…..take the test…send them your financial/personal info go for it!

Me, I’ll pass…I stopped working for free some time ago, and I don’t need the practice.

These guys are a perfect example of a doomed “Let’s try this” business.
JMO!!

Correct Les...I'm sure. Can't wait to see the "+" "-" post to start rolling in....for $50.00. And working for free? I pay myself for not taking a dumb assignment.

What I can't understand, (it is a major pet peeve of mine) why in the world do these new companies pick names that already leave a bad taste in your mouth? There is a similar named comnpany that has been around for quite a while, with a rancid rep.
How stupid to pick a name that will make notaries leary of you, from day one!
I also got the invite. I am stearing clear, as well, for all the reasons stated by everyone above.
