Heads Up - Ocean Pacific Notary Services Inc.

Received an e-mail from them today. Signing in nearby city- overnight docs for $xxx.

Message includes "We’re looking for a professional notary experienced in refinance mortgage signings to handle this assignment. We also need someone with good communication skills who is willing to call the borrower immediately to confirm the appointment and will respond quickly to our calls, voicemails, and emails so we can give our client regular status updates and keep them happy."

The offer was for more than they usually make and it was close in. So, sent a response saying the $xxx was acceptable for overnight docs, and to let me know.

The work order comes through with the same amount, but is for e-docs instead of overnight docs. Hmmmm. Cover note says: "...Order is attached. Please print out for your reference. There are three pages: the order, with signing information and instructions specific to the client; a page of instructions specific to Ocean Pacific Notary Services; and the completion report, which must be faxed to Ocean Pacific Notary Services the day of signing. Read all instructions carefully and confirm by phone or email that you have received the order. By confirming receipt of the order, you are confirming also that you have read and agree to follow all instructions listed therein.
Thanks for taking this assignment!..."

So, I called to determine the offer intended. Was it $xxx as stated and agred to in the first e-mail for overnight docs, or was it intended that the notary accept the same amount for e-docs.

The response was $xxx was all they could pay and it would now be e-docs. Perhaps something like this has happened to somebody else recently, in which case it could be an intentional error, or maybe someone was simply not paying attention to detail in the original offer. In any case, they would not honor the original offer, so it was turned back in. Hope this doesn't happen often as the company seems to enjoy a good rating.

Had the same thing happen here in a LTP state recently......had to hear all the whining about how they had to "bid low" to get the account etc ....... If you are going to bid on accounts on a national basis you should be aware which states are LTP states and have the price structured differently for those closings. Do not call me and whine. I do not want to hear it. Lack of planning on your part is not my problem. My fee is my fee.

I know Ocean Pacific has tons of adoring fans - but, like you Vince, I'm not one of them. And it's exactly because of stuff like this that keeps happening. Just my experience.

I have had nothing but good experiences with Ocean Pacific. In my opinion, they are an honest company, not in the business of scamming their notaries. I would chalk this one up to a miscommunication. Gina and co. have always paid me fairly and in a timely manner-- absolutely no complaints here. If Ocean Pacific calls you with work - take the assignment! By the way, it's tough out there right now, if OP has to be competitive, I give them credit - they still are one of my highest payers : ) No Low Balling from Ocean Pacific!

I totally agree!! I have nothing but praise for this company. You couldn't have a more outstanding signing service. Gina pays on time, and there for you with any questions that may arise. Ocean Pacific is A+ in my book!!!!!!

I've enjoyed a great run with Gina. Never had issues. She is actually very fair. Good system of paying on time.

No matter.... it's still not honoring original agreement

tendered in writing nor compensating for additional work required. That's just not right. Hope you're right, Vince, that this was just one of those unfortunate things and not the beginning of a pattern.

I love Ocean Pacific, never had a problem with them

They always pay in a timely fashion. I can't believe you would have any problems with them. Gina is always on top of everything. I'll work for them any day of the week!!!

To each Business, its own. I love the flexibility of being

my own boss, and, by the same token, live the the consequences.

By the book, you're right, Lee. But by the spirit of "Get it done", at least in my area, and experience, sometimes The Book is short-sighted. Today, for example, I completed a signing where, to my surprise, the borrowers had the docs with a return env/ label. I am unwilling to "discount" my fee, (not OP) which was much higher than what "they pay", as I printed docs emailed to me.

Over time, much evens out.

In my Book, ~twice~ begins a pattern...
