Help with my new VuPoint Magic Wand

I just had to have one of these for several reasons.   But..... I can't get it to work right at all.  Everything I have tried does not come out at all.   I have tried mine and hubbys's DL at least 20 times and today I took it to a family reunion hoping to copy some pictures out of a book a cousin has.  Not one came out.   What am I doing wrong?    Any advice at all is appreciated.   I really think I got a bad one.   There is just nothing I can do different.

Take it back...if it still doesn't work then it might be

operator error, but every bushel has a bad apple.

(I am loving this fruit analogy!)

I am going to take this one back as I don't think its operator error this time.   My husband thought I was funny today because I took a picture of my blackberry cobbler with my blackberry phone.   I been thinking fruit all day too.    hehe

Is the green light on?

You must push the button till the green light goes on.

Thanks Shoshana for trying to help me.   That was really nice of you.   I'll let you know what happens.

I had a few problems at first as well.

When you first try to scan you need to hold the button down for a few seconds to get it to go on. Then when you are ready to scan you push the button again but quickly, and the green lite will go on.

I always change the DPI setting to high. You will then need to very sloooooooowly run the scanner over whatever you are scanning and when done a number will appear in the window. 1 for 1 thing scanned, 2 or 2 etc. That lets you know that the scan is on the card and you can now download.

I mentioned before that we found that by putting small things like DLs in a plastic sheet cover makes it much easier to scan because you have more control of the item being scanned.

When you are ready to download images to your computer just plug it in and let the scanner show you which ways you can download and you will then need to choose the photo program you want to use.

Good Luck! I love mine and use it all of the time now.

What type of plastic sleeve are you talking about? Do you mean like a plastic page protector?

with my portable scanner, it truly has a mind of its own...

98% of the time, it works. But the other 2%, gets challenging, in that it freezes, and nothing gets scanned. So I have to restart my laptop to make it work, and it does.

I think that VuPoint and my portable scanner are from the same manufacturer. I would call them to see or look up their troubleshooting menu online.

I'm sure you've done this, but turn it off and leave it off for like 10 minutes. It might just reset itself.
